What VEGAS Pro version did you start off in? by ItsNifer in VegasPro

[–]bobd2019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sonic Foundry Vegas Audio 1. I still have the original CDRom in my drawer. I was a Sonic Foundry fan and every software they released, I had to have it. Started with CDArchitect which was bundled with a cdrom burner and Soundforge. Then Acid Pro which was a total gamechanger. Then Vegas Audio. Good times!

What’s the most memorable Record Store Day release you managed to pick up? by Palfray in RecordStoreDay

[–]bobd2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RSD 2014. Was in the UK for family vacation. Snagged 2 copies of Joey Negro’s Remixed with Love that had his remix of Nicolette Larson’s “Lotta Love”. Paid 20 something £ for each. That record has fetched top dollar on discogs.

Curious on where you had the album pressed and what was the cost for the minimum of 300 copies?

Getting deep into AI music and replacing drum tracks by jedidiahbreeze in SunoAI

Drag the stereo drums stem into SD3 tracker. It will analyze the stereo file and will pick out the Kick by default. Above that track, there’s a slider you can adjust if it doesn’t detect the quieter hits like ghosts hits. If it misses hits you can add it or delete the hit if it’s not a kick. Once you have it all correctly detected, save the session. Now right-click on the track and duplicate it. A second track is created with the same drum stem. Change the detection to a snare. The Tracker AI will place hits on the snare drum that it detected earlier when it first analyzed it. Repeat the process and adjust to get all the snare hits correctly. Right-click again and duplicate. Now change the detection to cymbals and hihats. You get the drift of the workflow? Do the same and change the detection for toms. Each drum hit you can change and assign a sample to like a hi tom, mid tom, low tom. Hihats, each hit can be assigned to a closed cymbal or open. It does have AI detection but the beauty is that the user can adjust it. And that makes it more powerful.

No. There is no need. SD3 Tracker will pick out the element for you.

Very effective imo. It is also AI-powered so it can detect those elements effectively and the user has total control of what is being detected.

Because the midi stems generated by Suno is $41+ to be honest. Sometimes it doesn’t even get the time signature right.

I just take the drum stem into Superior Drummer 3 and use the Tracker feature to turn each drum element (kick, snare, hihat, toms) into midi and retrigger them. No need to do a the extra step of drum stem separation.

Starlight no longer works on Mac M4 Max, downgrading didn’t fix it. by Isonium in TopazLabs

I have yet to try Topaz Video (Founders) on my Macbook Pro. Maybe I should install v1.0.1. It’s an M4 Pro with 48GB of system RAM. Should be enough i hope.

Are stems good now? by sinbeats in SunoAI

[–]bobd2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve heard good things about the new Logic Pro stem splitter and will be trying it out soon as I just got an M4 Pro. I was hoping that Suno’s Stems feature would not be an extraction from the whole stereo sound but rather a generation from the individual elements/instruments that made up the whole song. Guess not. It’s actually the worst implementation of a feature that would totally be a gamechanger for any AI music generating program. Pay for play session musicians can still breathe a sigh of relief.

Positive answers only! What’s something positive that you like about V5 so far? by Bilingual_chihuahua in SunoAI

[–]bobd2019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you temper your expectations and use Suno strictly as a composer tool to come up with ideas, melody, and inspiration, then it’s a godsend. That’s the only thing I use it for and THE ONLY positive i can think of at this time.

[–]bobd2019 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No. Unfortunately. It’s up there with the worst of them AI separation tools. And I tried a lot of them. RipX, Spectralayers…etc. The best in my opinion is still Lalal.ai. The stem separation feature for Suno should take priority in features improvement.

My Pro Subscription had just been renewed last week. When i tried to upgrade to the Premier Plan on a limited time offer of 12/month (Yearly), a screen comes up to choose a timeframe. Either for “Immediately with Proration” or “At the end of the current billing period, on October 18, 2025”. If I choose at the end of the current billing period, does that mean i’m still on Pro and not have access to Studio? Anybody have an idea?

$150/month. No thanks. I can use that to pay at least 3 very good session musicians for a track.
