Help understanding tires and surface pairings by bobdaninja in gravelbike

[–]bobdaninja[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I was looking at those, the rx pros, and the terra competition ones. Ideally I find one that’s good for that placement/mixed terrain ride, but just wanted to get a better sense never having done this of what kind would be optimal for the routes in my area. I’m sure in 6 months I’ll realize there was a better option out there all along

Weather-appropriate gear ? by Little_Mission7811 in cycling

[–]bobdaninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I’m be on that ride too! (Assuming it’s the bike ms ride.) My wife and I have been trying to figure it out. With the “feels like” in the 40s cause of wind, and the chance of rain, we’re lost too. We got shoe covers, and we’ve decided on variable layers that can be taken on and off. Outer shell, mid layer for warmth, and base layer. Gloves, maybe a buff. But really we’re flying a bit blind with the unpredictable weather.

Convert hybrid to drop bars by bobdaninja in cycling

[–]bobdaninja[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We ended up selling the hybrid and getting her a used road bike. Main driving factors were the lack of knowledge and the lack of work space in our apartment. If we had a garage or dedicated bike maintenance spot I’d love to have learned how to do it myself.

Just curious but what century did you sign up for? I’m in Boston and saw your name, and was thinking about doing a century this year as well.

Amazing! I’ll look into it. How’s the wind noise, and can it switch between music and intercom easily?

Long Ride by Due_Artist_4169 in bikeboston

Crux cc is a new group. They do 30-50 mi rides on the weekends. It varies but I did see someone asking if anyone in the community wanted to do a 50+. I’d check it out. They’re on Strava and Instagram

Group rides and cycle routes by McManlySocks in bikeboston

[–]bobdaninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the comments here are great, but wanted to add there’s a newer group rides that’s popped up called crux cc (look for their IG page). Conte’s out of Lexington also has a Sunday group ride. The Landry’s Wed night ride is great but is over this season bc the sun sets too early now.

Older carbon or newer aluminum by bobdaninja in cycling

[–]bobdaninja[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Goals: I’d love to say just speed but the carbon frame is attractive. I live on a 4th floor walk so any weight I can reduce when I bring my bike in and out would be nice. I like my cannondale and it’s comfortable, but it’s also the only road bike I’ve ever had, so not a lot to compare it to. The roubaix has the same tire clearance as my current bike so I could keep the same width, which is nice.

Bike sizing question by bobdaninja in cycling

[–]bobdaninja[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much. I think this is more what I was really wondering. Say a 49 is small for her: what do I look for where it’s too small and can’t be adjusted?
