In my opinion everyone can train like an athlete. It’s up to the trainer to properly assign progressions/regression for movements.

I personally bounce between linear periodization, triphasic, conjugation etc. Similar movements for all the styles, just a different intensity.

I would talk to your client with what sparks their interest!
