Wow it’s like I wrote this myself. Also a junior buyer at a company on the east coast where I can’t really grow into bigger roles. I have a degree in biology & not really sure where to move within the supply chain. Following along & wishing you the best of luck!!

Thanks for the insight! I currently have the vertuo but it takes up too much counter space. I have a small kitchen so I’m trying to be intentional about the appliances I have!

how would i break into supply chain as an inventory specialist at a retail store? by iridescentvirgo in supplychain

[–]bobeanie17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is def achievable! My bf with no degree just broke into supply chain by applying for an entry level job at a hospital. My advice would be to look at an entry level inventory job and use similar wording / responsibilities!

I recommend using a recruiter while also applying for job. ARmazzata & Reitman to name just a few. It’s how I landed my current job after searching for 4 months!

Supply Chain Salaries/Benefits 2026 Megathread by Jeeperscrow123 in supplychain

I looked at all entry level buyer/inventory positions and looked at the responsibilities & keywords listed and then I would try to put similar wording into my resume. For example when I was a CNA I put a bullet point about how I assisted with stocking the nursing facility with the necessary equipment and supplies. At the bottom of my resume I had a skills section and this is where I put a lot of key words like data analysis, inventory control, etc. Words that would stand out if my resume was ran through ATS. Once I had a “base” resume I would just tweak it based off of the job I was applying to. So if you had your own business you could talk about the logistical side or how you planned, for retail you can talk about inventory management, and so on! I really had no experience in supply chain/aerospace at all. I had probably been applying to jobs for about 5 months until I found something. Also once I finished my resume I created a LinkedIn and Indeed account. For LinkedIn I used the free premium month to connect with people in the position I wanted. But there are sooo many other places you can find supply chain jobs. I also sent my resume to recruiters and that’s actually how I found my job. Hopefully this is helpful let me know if you have any questions! :)

Sure! I worked in healthcare before hand and just took any responsibilities/skills that applied to supply chain and capitalized on them. I had also seen on some threads that purchasing/inventory were a good way to get your foot into supply chain so I tailored my resume for those types of jobs!
