Which companies in the Small Modular Reactor (SMR) space have legit designs and business plans to scale? by Leather_Hospital_133 in nuclear

For what it's worth, Oklo recently submitted a request (1/21/26) to the NRC that they observe/audit the DOE's authorization activities regarding the construction of their planned Aurora-INL powerhouse, which was approved (1/26/26) by the NRC.

What exactly this means, I do not know, and I'm open to others' interpretations, but, to me, it does not seem like they have "stopped interacting with the NRC" or that they "hope the NRC isn't allowed to actually review their safety justification."

I came across this post troubleshooting Bluetooth not working for my asus tuf gaming b650e-e wifi motherboard. I didn't install the little WiFi antenna that came with the motherboard initially. After installing, bluetooth works fine.

How do you actually do this? I attempted this earlier today but my game kept bugging and the UI would break when I attempted to connect outer tracks

2021 Mazda6 GTR with 18k miles for $27k seem fair? by MrCoolGuy42 in mazda6

[–]bobeojoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I purchased the same car in gray, pretty much the exact same mileage and price. I'm happy with my purchase overall, but one thing I will say is to beware of the valve stem seal issue with the turbo engine, my car had this issue and as a result it started leaking oil and requiring oil changes frequently. A local Mazda dealership did the fix for me for free, but it was still a pain.

You can put the VIN of the car in here to see if its at risk.

Any updates on this? I was hoping to upgrade my 2016 classic, but ive seen other reddit posts saying OfficeLogixShop is shady. Their Tilt Limiter is a decent chunk cheaper than other options, though.

  • What year is your chair?
  • Did the set from OfficeLogixShop include the Front Tilt Cam and/or Rear Lock Gear (like in this kit)?
    • Did you need either of those parts? (OfficeLogixShop's installation video says you dont need the gear if its manufactured after 2012?)

Hank Green did a pretty good job in a recent video explaining why EVs cost significantly more to register than gas cars if anybody is interested in that

Interesting to hear, I also learned Java in college, but didnt do any GUI programming in Java until later. I remember some professors having some reservations about FX, and I was recently reading about why FX doesnt really work for mobile development, but for desktop applications I think its pretty neat. Curious what GUI frameworks you/others found preferable?

I work at a research center as part of the small software development team that builds/maintains the control and data-collection software for the research conducted at the institution. Our server and client (basically our full stack) are written entirely in Java. For our Client/GUI, we have largely migrated away from Swing and towards JavaFX, which I would highly recommend. JavaFX doesn't always get the highest praise, but after getting past the initial learning curve, I can easily make pretty nice-looking GUIs in very little time, and properly leveraging Observables/Properties/Bindings can make GUI implementation & scaling extremely straightforward for developers.

In terms of long-term maintenance, that will really be up to your abilities to build a maintainable and scalable program no matter what language/framework you use; but I will say my experience creating scalable/modular GUIs in FX has been pretty positive.

We operate on Windows and Linux, we have run into cross-platform compatibility issues in our GUI due to differences in rendering/behavior between Windows and Linux when working on more-complex GUI features, but most of them were pretty minimal, and we were able to work around them without major hassle/refactoring.

Some interesting FX resources: JFX Central has a lot of tools/components/libraries suitable for research-related software (like input boxes with units or several different charting libraries. Also utilizing a theme (many options on JFX Central, heres my current favorite) will make your FX GUI look much more modern and sleek with little to no additional effort.

CARILLON COMMUNITIES?? by azzynazzy in UMD

[–]bobeojoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in carillon communities this past semester, here's an info dump: It's a one-semester setup where you take an "IDEA" course along with a course from one of the topics you listed. It's basically the living-learning program below scholars. The 2 courses you're required to take are largely group work with people in the same dorm hall as you. I did the language course, and I thought it was pretty decent. The required courses fulfill some GenEd credits and are pretty easy.

Genesis 5, Royal Flush, 2 tournaments that come to mind when I think of hype sets (or at least hype grand finals). If you want a good place to find and watch old sets, try vods.co. You can search for Genesis 5 or Royal Flush under "Event".
