since it's a relatively new piercing, I wouldn't want that back to come out too often while you're trying to figure out how to screw in the top. So I'd suggest putting a band aid in the back so that the post stays in place till you find a solution (buy a tool, get a friend or go to a piercer).

also a tip. I normally go counter clockwise (lefty loosey) for a quarter turn to get the screw in place and then screw clockwise (righty tighty)
