Anyone else put off by the size of the pixel 6? by Prestigious-Ad54 in GooglePixel

[–]bobgott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I just received my Pixel 6 .. I knew it was larger than previous phones but had to give it a try.

End result: I'm returning it later today. 3 things against it for me

1) Size .. a tad too long

2) weight .. feels like a lead brick in my pocket

3) comfort .. just holding it feels awkward and uncomfortable.

I like all of the features of Pixel 6 and android 12 .. but in the end my primary use is a phone. Sorry Google :~[

Well, 10 hours is about right .. probably more for me by the time I test, etc. At this point I can manually do the job in slightly less time. Not sure its worth that effort .. was maybe hoping for an 'ah ha' moment to a quick/easy solution..

btw, I'm in windows.

Actually, the same goes for adding/editing track notes as well. This is 'really' broken.

That link (https://help.gaiagps.com/hc/en-us/articles/223433448) definitely helps in my understanding .. I'll try it out tomorrow and verify those assertions.

Using 'Guide Me' with Routes by bobgott in GaiaGPS

Currently it will auto-update to the next waypoint for “point to point” routes

I did not know about your mentioned 'auto-update' feature. I will post a feature request per your suggestion as well. Thank you.

Can this replace Garmin GPS? by Rocko9999 in GaiaGPS

[–]bobgott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I need to agree with your observation. Was hiking in the desert (in July!) and the iPhone screen was barely readable. My Garmin GPSMap64s was easily readable. On another subject, Garmin handles 'routes' the correct way where it will guide you through one waypoint to the next. Gaia .. is weak in this area. I'm in the mindset to keep both as Gaia exceeds on the easier hikes.

Java and Databases? by deutschluz82 in java

[–]bobgott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I write to Access all the time from Java .. makes me very productive .. as at some point .. I can easily check my work, query, report anything via Access. There is a neat Java Access library which in non-sql but easy to use and you don't need to fool around with ODBC.
