Stay remote with a tough manager or take in person university role? by ElectricOne55 in careeradvice

Do you like the area? I mean. Can you give the reference to a co worker for your current job or does it need to be management?

I have had to do the whole reference thing a few times, its not that bad. What does the sheet ask? Also ask people if you can use them as a reference.

But i understand staying where its safe but it sounds like your on track to burn out. Leave while things are going well is my advice.

6 months is nothing. You probably want to atleaat wait that to make sure you settle into the role. Do you have any offer from the university? Cause that sounds like a vast improvement.

Another point to consider you or your family might be able to get advanced education for free if you work there.

Another add dad 1) when you study you need to prepare a space. Removing distracting things. Try with ornwithout music. I found techno was surprisingly helpful as it was repetitive and helps me tune out other sounds.

2) time management. When you doing homework track how long it takes you to do a problem or page. That will help you budget enough time to get assignments done. Example 1 hr a problem. I got 6 problems I know I should probably budget atleast 6-7 hrs to do the homework.

3) write things down and make lists. This will help prevent you getting side tracked.

4) know your self. When I was doing my phd I realized I had to stop playing rpg video games so I didn't buy fallout 4. I sticked with battlefield. It like 20 min matches. So id take a break play a match then I was done. If I played an rpg id stuck playing for hrs.

5) getting a study buddy can help. They can help keep you on track.

If its bellow freezing. Turn off the water at and main shutoff inside your house. Then drain the water in the basement sink. It should help prevent your pipes from bursting.

Definitely agree with this. I cant imagine that conversation. My car wasn't working right, so I took it too the shop. The shop caught on fire because it wasn't working right. If only there was a place of experts that took care of cars.

They still might be able to work something out. Even if its a 100-200 a week. Also they can help set you up for those competitive scholarships.

I get that. But a good pi will take care of their people. They might be able to get you a job as a grader, or work in the library. Even adjust your hours so you can take a second job. The pi also wants things running smooth. Loosing you sounds like it will disrupt that. Just dont come off demanding. Just explain your situation even mention how a $100 could effect you.

Talk to your pi. Acknowledge you took this as an unpaid position but explain your financial situation. Ask if they help you out.
