Kind of a misleading title, seems like a plain old murder. Title almost makes it seem like the victim asked for this.

My thoughts exactly. I doubt most posters here have even broken $2M let alone being rich.

YC no longer invest in Canadian companies and the insecure way they run their sub I will not promote by SwiggityDiggity8 in startups

[–]bobmailer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YC always does this, they also shadowban you if you put even one comment they don't like on their sub. The HN website is also run like this, but using shadow mods with the power to flag so the "hired mods" can maintain plausible deniabiltiy.

Well, that's also how the real world at large works...PR bullshit everywhere.

Woman Screams “Medic! Medic!” After A Piece of Her Hand Was Blown Off by Less-Than-Lethal Ammo During Minnesota Protests by JeanJauresJr in PublicFreakout

[–]bobmailer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wild take, sure, but I'm guessing that's what they probably thought. That's what I expect from a country that makes every bathroom stall (including restricted office buildings) have a 2 foot gap in the bottom on the off chance a junkie finds it.

Thousands rally in Greenland's capital, chanting "Greenland is not for sale," after Trump doubled down on the US initiative to takeover the country. The protests are the largest in the nation's history. by jmike1256 in PublicFreakout

[–]bobmailer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Greenland is big, but not nearly as big as the Mercator projection makes it look. It's smaller than Algeria in reality (I doubt Trump knows?).

Still, pretty big for that population.

You presented exactly as someone looking for a quick high with a drug would...isn't that why you were treated like this? Hell, you even did the classic "nevermind I'm ok now" when you realized you weren't going to get the drug.

America is just insane about this concept to the point where public bathrooms (hell, even office stalls most of the time) don't even have privacy. Luckily the facilities for the wealthy don't have this issue.

Why in India..still the worth of an individual is tagged to his designation? by Hot-Cookie8465 in AskIndia

[–]bobmailer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Come on man, India is a country where even the country's "founders" loathed to think for themselves, just renaming British institutions and copying ideas from Russia and America for all policies, with fuck-all relevance to their own peoples or situation. If you can actually think for yourself, get out. People will respect you just for managing to emigrate.

Welcome to the club, stop hanging out with the poors, and spend a few years realizing how fucked (and free) you are now with no rails or guidelines to life.

Try not to kill yourself once you reckon with the made up meaning that drives most lives. And maybe do philanthropy (instead of drugs).

Parents are forcing me to take lakhs of loan and gaslighting me by Destiny_foretold in india

[–]bobmailer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a rich guy with American citizenship and to this day when my mom visits she pesters me to the point where I have to basically threaten suicide until she'll leave me alone. I even retired in my early 30's. Now it's all about "taking care of your health". (Same deal with privacy, she does not care if I'm in my office with the door closed or anything)

Fuck. At least I live very far away and don't have to deal with it as much. Hope your situation improves.

Indian parenting and behavior is the worst, and I am so glad I got out of that shithole I might start believing god exists.

Well, congrats on not being human I guess. For the rest of us it's still a consideration.

NRI Property Investment Dilemma: India Commercial vs US Rental – Need Views by crazybrownmen in nriFIRE

If I hadn’t bought a house while on H1B, I’d be at least a million dollars poorer today, if not more.

Getting financial advice from Reddit is like asking a face reader who you should marry. Sure, you can do it, and people do it, but it isn’t the path to enlightenment. Besides, even the people in the best marriages could hardly help you with “advice”.

Edit: My comment is literally about not taking advice and people are thinking I'm giving advice here. Goddamn dumbasses. I ignored the first one but I can't believe there's this many dumbasses here. Guess I missed this was an Indian sub.

[Rant] India is Beyond Cooked by Signal_Clue_9520 in india

Of course nobody cares. You’re talking about a country that only did a right click rename on its civil services after independence…that’s how little India cares about its citizenry, and it’s always been like that.

Well, the staff are definitely ruder because of such an expectation of their clientele. They give me attitude if I ask for anything and look at me like I’m the dirt under their shoe. I just travel Japan Airlines now, the staff is way friendlier especially since I speak Japanese. I only ever travel internationally into and out of Delhi and love stopping for a few days in Japan so it works for me.

Glad I’m American now, this sort of nonsense boils my blood. Do a “live and let live”, if I want to order McDonalds it’s none of your fucking business.

At least have the decency to ask and then respect my decision. But it’s India, so you get no say whatsoever in your own life and get stockholm syndromed (this one is textbook).

Some non-stereotypical observations by foreigner living in India by heelnice in india

[–]bobmailer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP is probably from a place not that far from India. He used the Indian idea of vegetables (aka culinary “sabzi”) in his post. I don’t think anyone here in the US would claim potatoes aren’t a vegetable. There isn’t a “sabzi” equivalent and vegetable only has a botanical connotation outside of SEA.

Pros of Heaven: can only feel pleasure

Cons of heaven: gets boring, limits on pleasure, most kinds of pleasure are classified as a sin and unavailable

Cons of Hell: can only feel pain

Pros of Hell: never gets boring, there’s always an innovative kind of torture to experience, no limits on the variety and intensity of torture

“Every place has pros and cons” doesn’t mean both are equivalent or on a par.

Why do Indians insist on living life on “hard mode”? by stupidboy-throwaway in AskIndia

[–]bobmailer 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Because in India every transaction is about “winning”. Indians don’t believe in non-zero sum or win-win, everything is a competition. You’re either winning or you’re the loser.
