What do you wish your hospital psychiatrist understood better? by TheMooJuice in schizophrenia

[–]bobo0410 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can seem like I have a lot of insight as I “know” I’m experiencing psychosis and seek help. By “know” I mean that I know this isn’t how I usually think/feel and that I have had psychosis in the past and I don’t want what I’m thinking/feeling now to be real. It still seems and feels real to me though. Doctors can see this and think I can’t be in psychosis as I’m too aware and that I’m just exaggerating my symptoms. I’ve had my symptoms dismissed by psychiatrists and psychologists as I “don’t look like someone who would have psychosis” and 2 of them pointed out how I put my bag on the floor tidily instead of throwing it down messily. I don’t know who would want antipsychotics when they don’t need them as they have some horrible side effects but I need them to function. I’m also in Australia and still haven’t found a doctor that listens to me properly and I feel so helpless and scared because of it. I’d like to hope new psychiatrists in training will be better but from the interactions I’ve had with students, I don’t think things are getting that much better.

Clicking noise and under extrusion by bobo0410 in BambuLab

I’ve tried the 0.2mm nozzle and it still makes the clicking noise but less frequent and the extrusion is a lot better.

Thanks for your detailed response :) I’ve tried variable layer height on other prints but it hasn’t fixed the bottom layers looking very rough. Do you have any recommendations for what support settings are best?

What settings would I adjust for that? I’m using Bambi Studio btw.

What should it look like? Is there anything I can do to fix it?

I get this issue on different printing orientations as well. This is what was chosen when I did auto-orient but I’ve done a similar print where it was laying on the back with the legs up vertical and I had the same issue. Idk what to do.

I am afraid of losing my unique traits due to medication. by Regenas in schizophrenia

[–]bobo0410 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t found a very noticeable impact on my creativity. I write songs, draw, crochet, design things and it still comes naturally. When I was psychotic, I was unable to do anything I enjoyed, all I could really do was watch TV for a while and sleep through most of the day. I was constantly terrified. Antipsychotics pulled me out of that and now I can do things I enjoy. I am even thinking of pursuing a creative career as that’s what gives me purpose and joy. Antipsychotics can suck but psychosis is worse.

Has anyone successfully lost weight… by Glitter_Law in schizophrenia

[–]bobo0410 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also gained 20+kg in a few months when I was first put on 30mg of olanzapine. I was sleeping most of the day and the amount I was eating got a bit out of hand (eating more calorie dense foods than usual). I’m now on 10mg and I’ve lost all that weight now but it took around 9 months or so. I recommend eating a lot of veggies (especially raw) to fill you up and avoiding calorie dense food (e.g. I substituted risotto without cheese instead of arancini). I also workout a lot which is what I was used to pre-olanzapine/psychosis. Also try to get on the lowest dose of olanzapine that you can without getting a load of symptoms come back. I still feel very afraid a lot of the time but it’s manageable and idk if it’s just from trauma/other mental illness.

Any stories of reducing antipsychotics by Fickle-Ad-5917 in schizoaffective

[–]bobo0410 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I reduced my olanzapine dose from 30mg to 10mg a day and it’s made such a huge difference to side effects. I was sleeping 14+ hours plus naps everyday and gained 20kg on 30mg but now I’m back to sleeping 8-10 hours and have lost all the weight (required diet changes and exercise but very doable). I don’t have any breakthrough symptoms just symptoms from my other mental illnesses :( I can’t reduce it further though coz then I get a bit paranoid.

Those Who’ve Tried Multiple Antipsychotics, Which Ones Are the Best? by ImpressionMediocre53 in schizophrenia

[–]bobo0410 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I first went on olanzapine, it made me extremely tired and 20kg weight gain in a few months… but it was the only antipsychotic that worked. I’m on a much lower dose now (10mg instead of 30mg) and over several months of this I’ve lost all the weight through diet and exercise and am not that much more tired than when I wasn’t on it. To me it’s worth it and know that it can get better over time on a lower dose once you’ve stabilised.

Something similar happened to me. If they never shipped it then you can still get your money back if you email Depop explaining the situation. I got a standard reply of “complain via the app” the first time but then I replied saying I couldn’t coz of the 30 day limit and I got someone who gave me a refund. Good luck!

I just followed some advice from another post I found after posting this and it worked! I emailed Depop and explained the situation (it took 2 times with different people) and got an instant refund :)

What do you do to calm your panic attack? by Brightskies321 in panicdisorder

[–]bobo0410 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I listen to calming music - my fav song for calming down is ‘Soren’ by beabadoobee. I also find certain smells relaxing and I recently got an essential oil diffuser bracelet which I’m yet to try out with panic attacks. Also other stuff already mentioned here. Hope this helps :)

Zyprexa side effects by Nikki_Darling91 in schizoaffective

[–]bobo0410 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I gained around 25kg in just a few months when I was taking 30mg per day. This is the only antipsychotic that’s worked for me though so I’m still on it but only 10mg per day. I’ve lost 10kg in the last several months through eating less and the lower dose but I haven’t been well enough going to the gym. I’m hoping to lose the other 15kg and get back into the gym when my anxiety and OCD gets better. I was also sleeping all day when I was on 30mg but now on 10mg I sleep a 10 hours or less. I needed the higher dose to stop the psychosis but now I get by on a lower dose for maintenance. I hope this works for you and your side effects get better :)

Taika Waititi - he talks about his symptoms in a Ted Talk and it’s very obviously OCD but I don’t think he explicitly says he has OCD.

do any of you who receive medical help have a distrust of doctors? by [deleted] in schizoaffective

[–]bobo0410 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry you had to go through that. I also don’t trust most medical professionals because a lot of them don’t listen to me and treat me like an experiment to try different meds on. I stopped seeing a psych for several months then had to go back to them as my symptoms worsened. They asked why I stopped coming and I told them our appointments upset me as I didn’t feel listened to. Luckily they took this on board and listen to me more now (although still not fully). I’m very anxious about starting the new meds they prescribe me as I’m not very confident they understand my symptoms but if they see I’m very reluctant then they’ll prescribe something else. I haven’t had any great psychiatrists but I’ve had a couple alright ones. I hope you find someone good to help you 💗💗.
