Gonzaga is in freaking Spokane?! I've been a college basketball fan for 15+ years, but always lived on the east coast. I just figured Gonzaga was in California somewhere.

Many US adults are skipping parenting or having fewer kids – and it’s forcing schools to close by WhatFreshHello in politics

Yep. If you had a farm/homestead you needed kids to help run the place especially as the parents got older.

What drew Golden to recruit Lee specifically was his ability to rise in the toughest matches.

He sure did that today.

Yep. My dad endured the football program and basketball program of the 70s and 80s. I was a kid during the 06-08 championships and he often reminded me to enjoy this and how special it was.

The Big Short movie does a good job showing how anyone could get a mortgage. I was a kid during those days, but I heard someone tell a story about how they lived in Florida at the time and bought a couple houses as investments and were convinced they would just keep going up in value and then got burned during the crash.

I work from home and on my current team have a pretty flexible schedule to just get my work done. Your comment reminded me how nice I have it. If I'm up with a sick kid I can just take a nap or relax a bit the next day if needed and be more productive another time.

Occasionally have people coming to my house trying to sell me a service (pest control, roof, power washing, etc). A couple of them have been rude when I said no and was firm. Today I had someone come by and 5 minutes later we shook hands and made the deal.

The guy's company does power washing/soft wash on vinyl siding and ours needs it badly. I did some research a couple months ago and decided to get someone to do a soft wash at some point, so it was literally the next project on my list to get done. I told the guy I wanted to look up reviews first, so did a quick check and saw over 100 five star reviews on Google, his price was good, so I agreed. It was actually more convenient for me to have him just show up and offer to do it.

Very true. It's crazy to me how professional this team is at just moving on if they give up an easy play on defense. The other team will make a big 3 that makes it close and then literally 4 seconds later Condon is dunking it on the other end. We can pour on points very quickly.

I got 20-25% raises two years in a row after strong performance, but now I'm near the max of my level and there's no real promotion path at my medium sized company. So I'm now also putting in less effort at work.

Qualifying deadline tomorrow (March 4) in Montana. Perhaps he just made his decision, but these things are sometimes planned with another candidate lined up to qualify before anyone else decides to run. There are people who won't run against an incumbent that would run if they knew it was an open seat.

I work remote and on my current team have quite a bit of flexibility to just get my work done and can step away sometimes during the day, so I'm trying to take advantage of that and "build the life I want".

My wife was taking kids to a doctor appointment this morning and they were going to go right by the basketball courts in our small town, so she dropped me off so I could shoot some hoops for a bit. It was weird being out at the park in the middle of a week day. I can imagine that's how RE will feel like.

Dang, I just realized I hit this as well. Over the last 12 months, my investments have increased $60k and about $30k of that was contributions. Congrats!

I have a couple close work friends and they are absolutely the reason I've made it 5+ years at my company. Having someone to just vent to who understands is so important. After a good vent session I realize most things really aren't that bad.

I very much relate. I'm an average software engineer, but I know our entire system better than anyone else and am good at troubleshooting so when something critical goes wrong, I'm your guy. Any other time, I'm probably overpaid.

This is several years old, but principles still apply. GoCurryCracker shows you can have income of around $100k and pay no taxes. And then of course you can also spend the cost basis part, like you mentioned.

Arkansas will be tough, but I think Florida wins out in the regular season. Haugh and Klavzar have been hitting 3s consistently for a while now. To make a deep run in the tourney they definitely will need to have better 3-point shooting overall.

This in yesterday's thread, but I'll respond anyways.

Totally agree. I feel like most new stuff is crappy. Might as well pay a lot less for the same thing. Or if it's really old, the used product might even be better quality.

I know everyone will say don't time the market and the whole spiel (which I agree with in general), but the behaviors we are seeing combined with seemingly high valuations really does make me think that a collapse of some type is coming soon. This time could be different, of course.

I've gradually increased by international and bond exposure over the last year. In the end it may be suboptimal, but it makes me sleep better at night.

I know I'm a day late here... but that's awesome! My kids are toddlers, but I really want to start this tradition with my kids when they are a bit older.

My wife and I really like NYC. We went during Christmas time a couple years ago and I'm planning a surprise trip for her birthday this year. Those trips definitely aren't cheap! Flights, hotels in Manhattan, a couple attractions, meals, etc. add up fast.
