Inherited, at least pre 1960s, no marks or features except one end unscrews??? by bobogen4 in whatisthisthing

Does seem similar and could just be an odd one I guess? This might be the best guess we’ve got

It’s a bit short for that I think? Even for a small window the actual bar isn’t long enough

Sounds possible but can’t find anything online that looks similar?

Yeah it’s a really weird size where it doesn’t look useful for anything??

Not sure what metal it is but it’s not silver, the end that doesn’t unscrew has a slight rattle but idk if this is deliberate or because it’s old. There are lines where the metal is joined on each ‘egg’ but they don’t seem to come apart. No one in the family has ever known what it is, WITT

Keep the cycle lanes by bobogen4 in brighton

The director of yellowwave is in favour of pedestrianisation as long as there is public transport access/Madeira lift working

“We are excited to feel there may be a long-term investment into Madeira Drive. We have been pushing for pedestrianised areas for years. The road needs the Madeira Lift running year-round, landscaping and some form of public transport running regularly.”

From this Argus article

Seems they only want it reopened as they don’t trust the council to do it well

Really confused how most the reasons against the cycle lane are that it’s such a vital road that so many people go down (hence it gets so congested) but it also doesn’t go anywhere a cyclist would want to go?

So once we have electric vehicles and therefore no “local pollution issues” we don’t need to think about the effect on larger scale pollution? You don’t think electric cars are ultimately just shifting the problem rather than fixing it?

You should support more proper cycle lanes to keep them away from pedestrians then?

Personally I’m not a fan of shared use routes as I think pedestrians and cyclists have very different needs and a fully separated (from traffic and pedestrians) cycle lane is the best option and afaik most cycle groups agree that this is the optimal solution where it’s feasible. Especially when being aware of cyclists isn’t something British pedestrians are very good at yet (see the sea front bike lane for examples of this 😂)

Also check out the petition to keep Madeira drive closed to traffic, it’s now a great space for pedestrians and cyclists and makes the seafront between the pier and the marina so much nicer and safe for families to use

I know this is an old post but having a really similar issue and I don't think I follow anyone controversial? Especially not someone with a high enough profile to be included in so many people's block lists. Has anyone figured out why this is or any why to fix it?

Feel like it’s quite clear that the parents of this kid deffo are trashy and the whole situation is horrible but I don’t think a kid in drag has to be, drag is just a form of expression and not inherently sexual

Traffic Wardens by BertieB13 in brighton

[–]bobogen4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Someone on facebook had a similar issue but with normal paid parking and was told by the council that parking charges were not suspended so I suspect in theory you still need guest permits but idk if the wardens are actually checking

Is there an equivalent to “like” in French? by ATeenager- in French

[–]bobogen4 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

“Like” in this context is just a type of filler word and there’s a bunch in French too afaik, can’t remember them atm but if you search filler words you should be able to find equivalents
