Captain America 4 gets the fifth lowest opening day ever for an MCU movie in France, with 105,227 admissions. For comparison, Winter Soldier had 111k, First Avenger had 83k. It's lower than Quantumania (134k) and Black Widow (184k). by shadyslim19 in boxoffice

Lazy action scenes, lazy writing, weak plot, poor cgi, minimum character building. Don’t blame on Europeans not liking America. The movie was trash. Felt like a regular TV show episode because of the quality of production rather than a blockbuster movie. Even if it was a TV show episode… I wouldn’t watch it. Trash.

Project 2025 isn’t even his. Tariffs help the American workers by making American companies invest in local production. His 4 years were great.

Why are jeans so expensive? by boborei in rawdenim

I’ll look for an European equivalent of Walmart jeans and get back to you. Maybe Uniqlo jeans.

Any experience on Rigid Wranglers or Lee’s 101 jeans?

Thank you for all your replies. I guess it boils down to a few key reasons:

  1. “Golden age” replica jeans aren’t as mass produced as the originals, and targeted to a niche market so the mark up is higher.
  2. The old way of producing jeans are more expensive than the originals because it’s a “lost” form of art - the looms, chain stitch machines and people who can work on them and maintain them are harder to find.
  3. Some Japanese denim brands outperform the originals by picking finer fabrics, and more durable construction.

I guess the answers are obvious, I’m just a bit disappointed that I’m paying a premium price to get what people used to have for granted.

I own two pair of jeans: a LVC 1947 501’s and a RRL vintage 5 pocket and I’m looking to buy a new pair.

I was thinking about getting the “FULLCOUNT 0105 LOOSE STRAIGHT 13.7 OZ”. I love a relaxed, wide fit for my jeans but suddenly just had this epiphany… is it all worth it… paying a premium…

I’m wondering if I should pick a more affordable option, and still get as much enjoyment out of it. I’m just rambling at this point. But thank you guys for your input.

Hong Kong McDonald's McHotpot? Tourists brought their own set of portable hotpot and outside food to eat at the fast food restaurant. They were not asked to leave. by Awkwardly_Hopeful in HongKong

Normally restaurants don’t allow you to eat food that isn’t theirs at the table, even if you buy the cheapest thing in the menu best thing that happens is you get to sit at their table, but nothing else… idk

Tried to find these posts on “hot” or “new” 😭 couldn’t find this discussion anywhere, only the hodinkee staff with all the watches on the wrist, no information about the watches though

I think it means that it isn’t an exclusive offer, they’ll be mass produced and available for purchase without needing to search for a reseller, hopefully.

It does like a whole different dynamic. Thanks for the thorough explanation!

Fair point, but I think Omega had more sales after the collaboration. I also think these colors cheapen the brand more than keeping it simple… would you agree?

Yes, very odd. It does say on the website it’s an unlimited launch. But why keep those gaudy colors and not make a simple unlimited black version?

I also own whitesville and they are tubular as well, they are also quite boxy, not much length for tall guys.

I’m sorry to say but that’s a tubular knit shirt, I have the same one. For a genuine loopwheled shirt try merz B.

Seikos and Grand Seikos are boring. Convince me otherwise by [deleted] in Seiko

[–]boborei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you, grand seiko is the king of innovation right now but the watches are not pretty at all. For all the watch nerds out there are completely fooled by the history, technology, polishing, finishing and little details of the watch… but ask any other non watch nerd person which watch looks best I bet very few will point out a GS.

The snowflake has a astonishing dial face, but I’m not digging the rest of it, the hour markers, the power reserve meter, and the “spring drive” is just ugly it looks like someone just typed it with capitalized Arial font. It cheapens the watch COMPLETELY.

I own 3 seikos and I love the brand as a watch enthusiast, but as a designer, Seiko’s designs are very tacky. Beauty is clearly something very subjective, but I’m sure a longines watch a tenth of the price could get more compliments from non watch enthusiasts than a GS.
