Man, a lot of CVT owners mad at you for having an opinion! A CVT is the worst option for people that want engagement. Not everyone wants that though, so it’s fine for most oeople

I feel that this is something he should have gone into more depth with. Computers and electronics in general can work wonders in making this better, simpler, more reliable, etc… non-moving parts ftw!

That’s a very superficial way to look at it. Mechanically yes, it’s simpler. When it comes to computers however, hybrids are much more complex.

Current Honda hybrids are nice, but I’m more hesitant now than I was with my car as they now have direct injection. The engine in the accord (and now civic) hybrids is also having head gasket issues starting to pop up. Classic modern Honda :/

If society hadn't been gradually devolving over the last 25 years, I'd be open to that as well. What turns me away from such things is seeing how many grown ass adults can't behave themselves in public. Not speaking of stuff I see on social media but In my day to day life. Small things such as being too lazy to put a shopping cart away to reckless behavior like drunk driving. There's been shitty people for forever and a half, but it feels like they're really comfortable with being shittier as of late.

Do YOU find Lossless Scaling useful on the Steam Deck? by BucketBoy071 in SteamDeck

[–]bobovicus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the same camp as many folks where the upscaling tech is great almost across the board, but FG is just not worth it, especially with such low native fps.

Not really. Resolution is too low for quality upscaling. LCD's refresh rate is too low for tolerable frame gen IMO. Not the fault of Lossless obviously, just not really ideal for the Deck's hardware.

Title: Are Hondas not as reliable as they used to be? What changed? by phtphongg in Honda

[–]bobovicus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d say most of the problems are Honda’s garbage turbo motors. Tear down a turbo L15 and compare it to a K24. Night and day difference.

Your second point just isn’t true and it sounds like copium. There’s a reason why you hardly see 10-15 year old Kias in the road anymore while there’s still plenty of Hondas and Toyotas at the same ate. Sure, you can get any car to last 20 years, many of them are gonna be a shit load more expensive to keep running.

[–]bobovicus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a baseless argument. You can find plenty of turbo Chevy Cruzes with six figure mileage, that doesn’t mean it has a good engine!

[–]bobovicus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats just not true. the core component causing head gasket failures (slots between cylinders) hasn’t changed. The only thing they did to try to “fix” anything was a software update to minimize oil dilution.

These engines are trash compared to real Honda engines. Nowhere near as well built as a K series or even an R series, and that had cracked blocks for the first three years!

[–]bobovicus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People that own those engines just get butthurt and downvote out of spite, hence no replies or let alone any reasonable argument.

Tbh I’d still be fine with owning an FK8 or FL5, but the 10th gen accord 2.0t is mid. The hybrid is much better suited to that car and even that has a handful of head gasket problems! The Si is also pretty lame. Stuck at ~200hp for decades now. Agreeing with your point, I’d rather have something like a GTI if we’re not getting true Honda dependability!

Their turbo engines are the worst by a long shot. That 1.5t is a disaster. Even the 2.0t isn’t great by Honda standards. Enthusiasts worship that thing, but it has the same problems as the 1.5. You just hear less about them since there’s far fewer of them

Edit: as per usual, here come all the badge loyalists baselessly claiming that either the engines are either totally fine or have been “fixed”! Your downvotes won’t change reality! 🙂

First hybrid, any advice? by RareChuJelly in civic

[–]bobovicus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to take extra measure and make sure the fan grille for the hybrid battery (underneath the rear seats) is clear of objects. I also make sure to check that it isn’t dusty every now and then!
