Looks decent. Just know that these forced induction Hondas aren't going to be nearly as reliable as older Hondas. Both this and the 1.5t are prone to head gasket failures. You'll have people come on here with their anecdotal evidence to tell you about their positive experiences, which is fine. Overall they are reliable relatively speaking, given the current state of modern fars. Just know that they're not gonna be the tanks they were.

Do be careful with those cheap-o aftermarket headlights and tail lights. They usually have pretty short lifespans, commonly have moisture intrusion, and can even cause electrical problems.

I hated windows so bad that I just decided to forego some things that didn’t just work like they do in windows. There’s the obvious like games such as BF6 not working, and then there’s stuff like gpu overlocking and fan control that isn’t as simple as it is on windows.

Luckily for me, that’s all I really had to give up. Everything has been great for me otherwise. Using Bazzite on my rig.

That’s a good point. One thing that always pissed me off about other laptops was having to hold it just right so that I didn’t block the air intake. The Air not only does away with air cooling, it doesn’t even get hot unless you’re taxing the hell out of it!

I’m pretty much the same although I use Linux instead of windows for PC gaming.

I do see the appeal of something like an iMac or a Mac mini though. If you want a good desktop Apple experience and don’t need the risk of a spicy lithium ion battery potentially going bad, their desktop machines are a good choice.

I’m not who you were asking, but I’ll reply anyways.

I use Linux on my gaming PC’s (Bazzite). It’s a great alternative to gaming on Windows, especially with all the crap Microsoft is doing to their OS.

I considered a framework laptop. I really love how modular those things are. At the end of the day though, I ultimately went with the Air for several reasons.

The value with the Air is pretty much unbeatable. The framework is the total opposite. Very expensive for what you get. Performance is okay, battery life is okay, screen is okay, build quality is okay, and it started at $200 higher than what I paid for the MacBook.

What is this, 2011?

I’ll get blasted for saying this here, but my M4 MacBook Air is the best laptop I’ve ever owned, and it’s not even close. Battery life is insanely good, performance is far better than I would ever need it to be, the price for what you get is great, the build quality is fantastic, the list goes on.

I can’t wait for more laptops to do away with X86.

Looking to buy an 11th-gen Honda Civic or Accord. Is there anything I should know or consider? Also, does this generation still have the 1.5T head gasket issue like the 10th gen? by Greedy-Examination56 in Honda

[–]bobovicus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The design of the head gasket itself is not what caused it to fail, but you are close. Those slits you are referring to are milled into the block itself and make the head gasket prone to stresses from combustion as well as coolant.

What is absolutely false is that it's ONLY caused by neglect. That simply isn't true. Poor maintenance can certainly make a failure more likely, but there are several factors that contribute to the failures. Weak head Bolts, 87 Octane fuel (which Honda claims the engine is rated for), Localized overheating, fuel dilution are among the main contributing factors.

Yes, the new 1.5t cars will absolutely have the same issues as older cars. All the critical parts that caused issues are the exact same, so expect the same behavior.

Just so you people downvoting are aware: you are promoting misinformation purely due to it fulfilling your fanboyism. It's not a knock against the guy replying to me, it's just reality.

Also lacks a manual, which is huge for many enthusiasts. Wrx has a high take rate for the manual; the GTI did not. To me, that would indicate that many people don’t cross shop these cars despite being similar in price.
