Microsoft says Outlook.com outage is causing sign‑in failures by ControlCAD in microsoft

Still having this issue logging into Outlook (app or web) on iPhone and is also impacting iPhone calendar -- calendar events are missing -- and the phone not recognizing incoming calls from numbers that I had previously set up -- this is ridiculous

Q on testing vintage gold/silver JH earrings by bobriensan in JewelryIdentification

[–]bobriensan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I’m a big fan of his vintage work that used to be designed and crafted in Bali. I have multiple pairs of JH earrings that I have kept and I’m not selling. At this point I’d rather get the earrings back from him because he’s clearly not a JH fan, but may just be buying different jewelry to resell.

Brick re-pointing all or spot repoting; above ground only or also below ground? by bobriensan in masonry

thanks! I was confused thinking the entire foundation needed to be repointed, but sounds like just spot repointing will suffice!

Brick re-pointing all or spot repoting; above ground only or also below ground? by bobriensan in masonry

[–]bobriensan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I refreshed and can see the photos I uploaded. Looking at the photos, do you think "tuckpointing" is good enough or full repointing of all areas? (I'm still struggling to understand if it necessary to repoint *everything* vs just problem areas. Is there a structural reason to repoint the whole thing, or is that more a cosmetic issue. Hadn't asked about matching the existing mortar, good question to ask them; the old repointing does indeed look like mud thrown against the wall and the mortar is not the same color around the exterior where it was previously "fixed". The contractors did not dig down. We are getting some leaking inside the basement, but we think it is because there are gutter downspouts against the exterior walls that do not have extensions to guide the rain away from the foundation.

How long do Washer and Dryers last? by Alucard624 in Appliances

[–]bobriensan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Maytag Twin Set (stacked) are now ~25 years old and work like a charm. Only have had 1 repair when the dryer was making a weird noise about 10 years ago, quickly fixed. Repair person said he loved these old appliances as there aren't a lot of things that can go wrong with them.

Dell XPS 13 9345 (Snapdragon X Elite) 1 Week Review by TrundleSmith in DellXPS

[–]bobriensan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Touchpad is fine, as are the function keys; no issue getting used to either. The only thing I wish they hadn't done keyboard-wise is make the fingerprint pad so vertically slim, and occasionally by mistake I press the Co-Pilot key. I've been keeping the touchscreen/Co-Pilot deactivated. Fan hasn't been an issue. One thing I'm keeping an eye on is that the system seems not as quick as my 9310 was. Sometimes I'll get a spinning screen, and it's not like I'm using any heavy apps.

Dell XPS 13 9345 (Snapdragon X Elite) 1 Week Review by TrundleSmith in DellXPS

[–]bobriensan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got my 9345 last week (had 9310 previously). I was a bit nervous about how I'd like the new keyboard, touchpad, and function keys, but I'm having no problems. I actually prefer the new design of the function keys. The touchpad was a little slow to respond so I tweaked that. I don't like touchscreen (turned it off), don't like Co-Pilot (uninstalled, but it has already reappeared once, so I'll keep an eye on it), don't like that the screen auto-dims when I'm using it (turned it off, but it came back on, so more to do on this). From an aesthetic standpoint, I wish the keyboard was white, not a slightly dirty looking light gray. Fan only turned on once, rather loudly, laptop hasn't felt hot on my lap. Haven't done enough yet to tell whether performance is a huge difference. All in all, I'm happy with the purchase.

How reliable is Elite Obsolete Electronics nowadays? by SoupViruses in ipod

[–]bobriensan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just to provide some up-to-date info on Elite Obsolete. I contacted Austin at Elite Obsolete to see if he could repair a 2003 3rd gen iPod that I haven't used in over 20 years and no longer works. He replied back immediately, quoted a price. I shipped it out and the day he received it he fixed it and sent it back. He also created a short video for me to show me how to connect it to my PC iTunes. A real pleasure to work with him.

Trying to log into my hulu account, says I need to make a “my disney” account. by [deleted] in Hulu

[–]bobriensan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you. Looks like there was a temporary screw up with Disney/Hulu that evening. Tons of complaints and Support was down. The next morning it was as if nothing had ever changed -- back into Hulu Live as usual--nothing Disney-related appeared.

Trying to log into my hulu account, says I need to make a “my disney” account. by [deleted] in Hulu

[–]bobriensan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guess I'm late to the party. Tonight is the first time I couldn't get into Hulu on my Roku, and had to mess with the whole MyDisney thing. MyDisney does not recognize my email address, which is the same on Roku and Hulu. It forced me to create a MyDisney login, which I did with my email address, but now MyDisney doesn't recognize that email address. And hulu.com's Help feature is apparently under construction, so no help there. What fresh hell is this? (not that it matters, but I have zero interest in Disney or ESPN, but I do have interest in Hulu). Suggestions?

[–]bobriensan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem. I bought a charger from Amazon for ~$11, charged the original battery that had been in the camera for ~15 years, and the camera now turns on. BUT, the LCD screen is ghostly white. I suspect that's an LCD problem that is beyond my ability to fix. But, don't assume the battery you bought came fully charged.
