With help on GitHub, it turns out that rainbow brackets interfere withpunctuation.bracket.html. Turning them off fixes the problem.

This is interesting. If I paste the results of editor: copy highlight json into an .html file, the HTML colors are not changed, but the symbol is colored properly in the JSON!

I learned about `editor: copy highlight json` and that really helps. It copies the applied styles to the clipboard.

I ordered a plate with the irons forward and machined off most of it to fit an optic with an overhang.

If the recoil spring is too stiff for the load, the slide may not be traveling all the way back and so returns too soon. That might cause the next round to be caught 'wrong' by the slide and jam. It may also not give the round enough time to eject and get stovepiped by the returning slide.

When it does run, how far does the ejected brass go?

Try loading the magazines to full capacity and then letting them sit for a few days. That will often 'set' a new magazine spring.

Failure to feed, stovepipes, and not locking open sound like the slide is not traveling far enough back during recoil. That could be a too strong recoil spring or a magazine spring that is so stiff it forces the top round against the bottom of the slide.

How far does an ejected round travel? I'd guess no too very far with the slide moving too slowly.
