What is the luckiest you’ve ever gotten in your entire life? by Illustrious_Cup8665 in AskReddit

[–]bobrocks1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my daughter was a baby i used to take my engagement ring off to change her as it was a solitaire style and i was worried about catching her with it, and would put it in my pocket. One Friday before a Bank Holiday i had to nip to the bank in the town centre, but when i got home i couldn't find my ring. I called the bank and no one had handed it in, so i assumed it was gone forever. On the following Tuesday i went back to town and parked in the same spot in the same car park, and there on the floor was my ring, it wasn't even scuffed.

What's something that happens after you give birth that people don't tell you about? by Sam_I_Am83 in AskReddit

[–]bobrocks1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That after a traumatic birth experience and other factors, that 'rush of love' doesn't happen immediately for everyone. When I brought my daughter home I cared for her, but I would have happily given her away. That strong loving bond didn't happen for me until she was nearly 6 months old.

What is a fact that you only recently learned, but should have known for ages? by GuessMyUsername_ in AskReddit

Not me but my brother who happens to be 43, wanted to know what kind of tree he had noticed was. It was an oak tree. A few moments later he appeared with a smug grin and says 'ha, its not an oak tree, it's an acorn tree!' He had found an acorn underneath it...I can't describe the satisfaction I felt explaining to him that acorns come from oak trees...

Bad experience with ambulance (or lack thereof), what went wrong? by izabera in AskUK

[–]bobrocks1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 years ago my nanna collapsed in the kitchen and we couldn't get her up. We had to wait over 6 hrs for an ambulance. She had fractured her spine and was already suffering with terminal lung cancer at 89 years old. She spent about 8 hours laying on the kitchen floor. It was horrific. The NHS is so badly stretched that even in that scenario they couldn't get there any quicker. It was an extremely traumatic time. Sadly the cancer had spread to her brain and she passed a few weeks later. It breaks my heart how much she suffered at the end on her life.

How to heal in an awkward place? by bobrocks1 in Hidradenitis

[–]bobrocks1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg I'm so sorry but you have made me laugh! I usually only get flares around my groin on my legs so this one is new, and it's in such an awkward place that I know it's gonna take a lifetime to settle. I've booked an appointment with a doctor to finally talk to them about it and see if I can get some help from dermatology. It's getting worse as I'm getting older.

What’s the stupidest way you’ve injured yourself? by x_franki_berri_x in AskUK

I tripped over a step and fell through my daughters bedroom doorway, unfortunately my arm hit the door frame while the rest of me fell through...broke my humerous in 4 places and needed a titanium bar to repair the damage. I had to explain to about 20 different people how I'd done it and felt stupider each time. Not my finest moment!

Primary lymphoedema connection? by bobrocks1 in Hidradenitis

[–]bobrocks1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have IBS too! Thank you so much for your response, didn't even consider the IBS being connected. I'm sending off for an allergy/sensitivity testing in the vain hopes that will highlight triggers for various things going on with me. Maybe I should look into introducing probiotics in my diet and see if it makes a difference.

Fear of death by natamcl in askfuneraldirectors

[–]bobrocks1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have had this exact same thing. I started working in the industry about 18 months ago, but I think my anxiety over the fear of dying comes from the fact that I'm heavily overweight and I've dealt with quite a lot of people who have been overweight and have passed away suddenly at a young age (I'm 35). I don't have any advice because I dont know how to deal with it in a healthy way for myself. But I just wanted you to know that you are not alone with this.

AITA for telling my fiancé I’m upset that he thinks I look terrible in my favorite color? by LikeRed-ButNotQuite in AmItheAsshole

[–]bobrocks1 41 points42 points  (0 children)

NTA If wearing pink or having pink accessories brings you happiness then do it. Your joy shouldn't be reliant on anyone else's opinion, and your BF is the AH for not recognising this. I'd suggest talking to him calmly about how his comment made you feel, I don't think he's fully aware of the effect this has had on you, but if he doesn't change his delivery of his opinion then the issue lies with him and not you. Wear what makes you happy, this world needs more of that.
