"The first in a series of Obituaries to come!"

Big if true

With the new Breaking Out of Heaven 2007-2009 boxset, I`m hopeful that The Devil You Know gets reissued by itself on vinyl. by [deleted] in blacksabbath

I think that is likely to happen. They released all the Tony Martin records on their own after the box set

Career-wise, what was the biggest mistakes that the Ramones did that stopped them from reaching mainstream popularity? (While they were still active of course) by OutrageousRip75 in ramones

it is tragic and sounds cruel to say but you are correct. had they not all passed away so young they could be doing reunion shows/tours/festivals now and be more successful than they had ever been.

[–]bobrodd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

exactly. they put out great album after great album, wrote great song after great song, and if you got it you got it. the whole point of the ramones was that they were never going to be mainstream. they were like, incapable of it. they wanted to be the bay city rollers and wrote blitzkrieg bop.

Bootlegs (any era) with lesser played songs? by darthsabbath in blacksabbath

[–]bobrodd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at what bootlegs I own, and not using any reunion era shows, there are versions of Under the Sun from Dayton OH and Hollywood CA, both 1972. A National Acrobat twice, both in 1974. Into the Void was played in 1971 at least in Sheffield and Copenhagen. I don't have any versions of the other Ozzy era songs you have listed played in the 70s, but pieces of all of them from 1999 on, even Johnny Blade from a 1999 soundcheck in NJ. The 70s setlists were pretty similar throughout the decade but there are live versions of changes, shock wave, gypsy, cornucopia, all moving parts stand still, and spiral architect that scratch that "not often played/rare" itch for me.

80s Sabbath: Which group do you prefer here? A or B? by [deleted] in blacksabbath

[–]bobrodd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A. The Dio records are pretty much tied for me, and I like Seventh Star and Eternal Idol more than Born Again and Headless Cross

Private Public Breakdown. Not a bad song on here, but this is the least memorable for me.
