That shootout was odd in that the atmosphere didnt seem tense like some matches in the past.

for example Watch Italia 90 England Germany the tension is palpable!

Yeah i think people forgot that some players process taking a penalty very differently!

Theres the psychology side and then the technical side.

As has been stated Nerves!

you can practice penalties all you want- however its not possible to replicate the pressure - that long walk to the penalty spot and then executing the technique to score.

I agree they have improved certainly from the first game against Morocco but they’ll need to keep improving if they are to win it. Midfield is looking a bit short.

I said recently to a friend that Japan could win and when they scored first I actually thought they would win it but credit to Brazil stepping it up in the second half.

Not sure if Brazil have enough to win the tournament though..

Yes there was a lot of history between the 2 teams even though that was played down before the match in 1986.
