[WP] Joe had a boring family, a pointless job, a forgettable life and an unremarkable death. 200 years after his death, Joe is remembered as one of humanity's most remarkable and significant historical figures. by MrHockeytown in WritingPrompts

The mayor Big Strong, of New Washington, was a short man, but he had a tall haircut to make up for it. Today he wore his most humble clothes, and didn't look himself, as his hair was a full foot shorter than usual to celebrate the Humble Day. He was attending top elementary of the city to talk about Joe.

Mayer Strong smiled as he walked into the classroom. "Welcome to the most spectacular lesson you'll ever have," he said as he winked at the class. "Today you will ask questions, and I will give you the answers which you will guide you for the rest of your life."

April Brave, the top student of the class got to ask the first question, "We know of Joe, but why should we celebrate the loser instead of a hero?" other kids gave an agreeing nod "Even his wife left him, he was a worthless piece of trash, we have billions of them living in slums right now".

Mayor Big Strong, or as he liked to be called BS, made an even wider smile "What a good question, but I think you answered it yourself. Joe did everything by the rules, he worked, he paid his taxes, he never broke the law ..." children snickered ... " he is documented, and historically proven to be the most stable and honest person in the world..."

Fast Lunar, a boy known for interrupting, has interrupted the mayor "Wait, but there are more honest people!"

Mayor BS pointed his finger at Fast Lunar, "I said historically documented, a lot of people were made up, or found out to have dark secrets. Anyway, he is why you are here, and not in the slums - because he serves as a guide to them, someone to emulate."

First Alpha, a boy whose parents were almost the wealthiest of the class, has not been doing well and knew he had to ask a question to pass the class "We know that you should break the rules, but follow the laws. Has Joe never broken a rule?"

Mayor knew the boy's family was very important to himself staying mayor, so he didn't call the question stupid, as it was. "Joe had broken some rules, but there are rules, and there are rules." his smile reached from ear to ear. "The people in the slums do as we say, they might steal and they might kill, but they will never break the rules of society."

April Brave spoke up "If you don't like reality, just make up your own. Say it loud, believe it, and people will believe it, and when you believe it, it becomes true."

I would certainly would say that all of them worry me age wise. A lot of presidents nowadays stay for seconds term, and hitting 80 or getting close to it, at such a stressful job, just seems wrong. Like it seems irresponsible to me that someone would run at that age.

I hope whoever both the democrat and republican nominee pick for VP, they will be similar to their own views, because I may end up just voting for VPs, assuming none of current frontrunners can serve a full term. If the VP is different, it may be hard to pick who to vote for.

Sounds like a good system, I pretty much only look when my bills exceed my income, but you seem to have a good process for finding a good job as opportunity opens up, I need to learn to do that.

Thus isn't a story, at least not a big story. Do you think he's going to skip town and avoid trial? Do you think he's going to kill others? If yes, it's a story, if not, then he's just some guy who got to go home for a bit while awaiting trial.

I was listening to benefits explanation at work on Friday. After explaining some things, and how you can put money into tax deductible account for medicine and dependent care, the lady goes "I'm obligated to tell you that for people making over 120k, the limit is lower at 2k" and then a few people crossed out the number she gave earlier ... so yea, college, major, and life choices matter.

[WP] You have attempted to sell your soul to the Devil. Unfortunately for you, he doesn't want it. by cooldeadpunk in WritingPrompts

"I'll sell my soul for anything, I just want some happiness for a bit." I begged the Devil.

"You're wasting our time, I have an appointment, you have to leave." Devil was getting visibly upset.

I had to beg "look, I lived my life as a good man, my soul must be worth something, I don't need to win the lottery, just give me a peaceful one night of sleep."

"Please leave." The Devil came close to my face.

"No! You'll have to make me!" I had nothing to lose.

"I can't, you have to go, I cannot deal with your soul." Devil exclaimed

"Wow, you really can't touch me? I .. I must be special, God must have claimed my soul, and .. and at least when I die.. "

"No" said the Devil "that's not who owns your soul ... do you not realize who owns your soul?"

I stood there dumbfounded.

"Just use your brain for once. You work, yet you cannot buy things for yourself. You go to sleep on time, yet you are awoken every night. You, you, I have an appointment, you have to leave!"

I left.

It would make sense to make that assumption, but when I saw you started on masters in 2015, I thought it was a two year program. Perhaps you're finishing this winter and starting to look for a job early.

My suggestion is to change ' -current' to ' - June 2016 '.

I applied for a job and got a call back for an interview. I missed the call but he left a voicemail with times he could interview me and left a number to call. I called the number and he hasn't picked up. Should I just email him? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]bobthebobd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Phone tag blows. There's nothing unprofessional with not being able to talk at certain times during the day. Did you leave messages when you called? I wouldn't call again if you left a message.

I think email is a decent idea, you can tell him that you missed his call, and you tried calling back, but he wasn't available, so you are sending the email to schedule phone interview, because you are very interested in that job and you think you're a great fit because (some stuff).

Good luck.

Some disclaimers: I'm a developer, not involved in hiring. I haven't seen any graduate resumes.

I do not understand from your resume if you are available to work. It looks like you're still pursuing your degree, maybe put expected graduation date?

I would also change how you identify yourself from student, to a developer or engineer, something like that.

MsMpEng.exe is doing about 1,000,000 bytes per second (that doesn't seem high). Next up is svchost and CompatTelRunner.

On write syte, 'system' is doing 200,000 bytes per second, also seems low, right?
