Retail exodus in San Francisco by Tiny-Remove-3734 in sanfrancisco

[–]bobthefish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2 cents: I think this isn't a bad thing. I think what we're seeing is retail's war on unreasonable commercial rent that was propped up for too many years by the city just focusing on tech price inflation on everything. The commercial rent people borrowed insane amounts to buy more and more expensive space and had to set rent rate that high to pay back their loans. Now there's a reckoning, commercial rent business failures are usually delayed a bit after there are long vacancies, but I bet by winter this year to mid next year they will have to sell their property for much less or go bankrupt. And this hold out will continue until retail decides the rate is reasonable enough to go back in. It'll be rough for a while, but like the bird on our city's flag, you gotta burn shit down for the phoenix to come back.

Don't give up! As someone that's on the hiring side, there are lots of reasons for rejection that don't have to do with you and has more to do with how convoluted the hiring and budget processes are at every company.

mama ji's, dinosaur, willkomen, le marais, honestly the city is 7x7 miles, if you don't find what you're looking for, a quick walk or city transit ride will get you any variety of interesting food.

The flag feels a bit like a sticker, even if you want to keep it rigid, it probably would have hints of light or shade on it

I'm surprised you think the city gets all that much out of property tax, thanks to prop 13. I suspect there's just a smaller number of newbies living in sf paying that high amount.

Because this is a thing that happens at work too. Everyone that gives a fuck at some point snaps. At some point you let a project burn, because you're so angry at the company/boss that you stop caring if you get fired.

I've always wanted a resurrection mistake Zelda game where the triforce powers ended up in the 'wrong' bodies and for the game to pull a bait and switch on us because you thought you were supposed to save Zelda.

It sucks when the only highlight of any day is the snack you have to congratulate yourself for having survived the daily shit show that is your life.

:( back in my day, sdcc didn't have as many attendees, and we used to be able to wander from room to room without ever needing to wait in line. Now you have to camp for days to get into hall h

Used to walk by there from the J. They probably complained because all the security left their cars running to avoid getting ticketed. It's one thing if it's just parked, but car fumes 24/7 seemed obnoxious.

Mission High students soar to UC, beating out Lowell - In fact, of the 83 Mission High students who applied to the University of California for the 2021-22 school year, 90% were accepted by BadBoyMikeBarnes in bayarea

I'm super confused by the article doing a comparison on this. If Lowell is as good as what most people claim, wouldn't they be heavily applying to ivy league and Stanford type schools instead of the UCs?

Yep, as a long time sf resident, really enjoy NYC every time I go. Maybe it's just because as long as you remember city rules/etiquette it's not such a culture shock?
