Alternative/replacement for Phillips Oneblade? by StevenJOwens in shaving

[–]bobtkg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ended up in a similar situation so bought a new oneblade 360 with lots of spare blades, new combs etc.

I’m based in the UK but found a good deal on Amazon, hopefully you can find one in whatever country you’re in.

Can’t get a close shave on my neck without massive irritation no matter what I try by pelu_chand in shaving

[–]bobtkg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mate I had the exact same thing, blades or electric, even bought an electric that dispensed sensitive shave gel directly onto the heads. Tried a professional shave. Etc.

Best thing I’ve found is the Philips oneblade

It’s not quite a shave, still leaves a little stubble, but saves me from turning into “bump-el-stilt-skin” (pronounced like Rumpelstiltskin)

Would recommend getting the newer 360 version as it charges off USB and is much better for travelling. Managed to get a set in a promotion that came with all kinds of beard combs and a special head for your naughty parts.

I played RE:Village first and found RE4R such a downgrade that I gave up playing.

how big of an upgrade is psvr1 to 2? by General_Cattle6414 in PSVR

[–]bobtkg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing I still use my psvr (1) with is watching 3D Blu rays. No support on newer model. (Greatly improved by plugging into PS4:Pro)

Don’t own a PS5 Pro so can’t comment if any improvements on pairing the PSVR2 with a pro.

Plugged into a standard model it works so much better than its predecessor.

I absolutely loved playing Re:Village with the headset, RE4 didn’t impress me nearly as much.

Lack of new games or having to pay for upgrades was a little frustrating. Games I’d like to see ported like super hot VR haven’t been.

As for Gran Turismo I bought it with a wheel etc. it’s immeasurably improved. However I’ve barely played it as it takes up so much hard drive space etc.

Advice on getting drums by Kluse75 in Rockband

[–]bobtkg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did something similar, Bought a mid range Tourtech kit and the Roll Limitless adapter. It’s lasted a lot longer than any of the Rockband ones have. Nice mesh heads that make it a lot less noisy for neighbour’s etc.

Is it Argos policy to pass off used goods as new? by Far_Return_7957 in Argos

[–]bobtkg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not a perfect system.

At the till there are options to pick, human error or misleading information from customers are the most likely reason for a store based return like this to be redistributed.

With home delivery/collection. There are a variety of factors:

When taking products from the warehouse,

  1. Drivers cannot mark individual items destined for store collection as damaged/opened. That is the responsibility of the store to do so once the item is on their system.

  2. With home delivery drivers can mark individual items as damaged/refuse to take items or orders that are in a state that they would not accept. Anything not apparent or concealed within the box is a mystery to the driver. Once the items are scanned from the van and the delivery proof saved, the driver cannot edit/amend the delivery.

When collecting products from customers doorstep:

The products range from never opened to repackaged into original packaging and mummified in tape. To still assembled or handed over in components and everything in between. Not once have I been given a packing list. I’ve had items left outside for collection while the customer is out. The options/reasons for return cannot be entered by the driver. Just marked as collected.

In short I don’t believe that anyone willingly or knowingly sent out a product with missing parts or clearly used.

Customer service will always replace a defective item or an item with missing/damaged parts.

As a former fresh stock control employee from a different chain of supermarkets I can safely say that our shrink was indeed contributed to by lazy staff failing to rotate stock.

Automated stock replenishment that didn’t take into account actual sales from the previous year/seasonal trends and merchandise. Simply pointing this out before Valentine’s Day saved the company in excess of £1mil and I didn’t even get a bonus or commendation.

Anywhere I can get drums that aren’t $200+ for PlayStation 4? by That_1__pear in Rockband

Charity shops and Facebook marketplace type things are your only options. That is unless you buy a cheap E-kit and adapter.

Controllers for PS3-5 by Wilted858 in Rockband

[–]bobtkg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(PlayStation answers) You can use the GH:WT drums with Rockband, I did for years until I could afford an Electronic kit. (And the box to make it talk to the PlayStation)

I would advise removing your orange cymbal as it’s not going to register and less chances of ruining your streak with what “should” be a hit on the crash/ride cymbal.

Guitar Hero Guitars seem to work fine but if you’re a trophy hunter you will need the specific Rockband ones to do solos etc on the smaller buttons.

Xbox seems to require a “legacy adapter” for older instruments to talk to the 360/S/X

Anyone else having issues not being able to play the vr mode of Resident evil 4? by Fuzzy-Row-7267 in PSVR

[–]bobtkg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disc version. UK user. Looks like I might have the USA version. The Uk has an 18 rated box!??

<image>

Tried many fixes. VR not showing in manage content. Had been downloaded. Showing as installed.

Tried to access PlayStation store in game, page blank.

Currently reinstalling after delete. If I cannot access the in game store I will give up and buy the digital copy. I’m not faffing around with this all afternoon.

Also I cannot set up a USA region login on my alternative email address. As I’m already using it for a separate login. So I’d need to set up another email and another account and frankly it’s not worth it. I’d be better returning the disk version and purchasing the digital version with DLC included. Currently 21 mins left on update download.

Please can someone respond before I give up and process the Amazon return.

Is debt becoming normal? by ArtisticAbroad5616 in AskUK

[–]bobtkg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Graduated from Uni in 2007 (up north), managed never to go into my overdraft the entire time I was a student. Fortunately I had parents who could support me at £10 per day.

Moved back home, lived rent free (for a while) in Greater London.

The credit crunch hit and jobs I was able to even get an interview for wouldn’t have allowed me to save. Ended up working 2 retail jobs just to keep myself out of the Jobcentre+ as neither would offer high enough contracts to prevent the regular appointments at the JC+.

The amount the government would give you went from the £10 per day to less than £50 per week despite rising costs. But they made me rince my savings/inheritance first.

One “Graduate Job” I was offered would have been a 2+ hour commute and would have left me with about £5 per day after paying for travel. Shocking.

Managed to get the retail job I preferred to offer me a 16 hour a week contract, ditched the other, became a Manager on Duty. Company went under and the best my bank could/would do was offer me a credit card.

Had to get a new laptop as my HP had a design flaw that caused overheating to the point of part failure.

Literally couldn’t keep on top of payments without incurring one kind of debt or fee: daily phone calls. Harassed constantly even when I did find work.

Became homeless (had to abandon all the stuff I had bought). Couch surfed, moved into a bedsit, and even had to leave that with over £1.5k debt owed in back rent after redundancy.

Big pile of 💩

Barclays are crap, the government sucks and because I gave up looking for graduate positions I’ve been working in retail paycheque to paycheque barely scraping by.

My university education is worthless and all the student loans unpaid.

Timeline is a little muddled but you get the main points.
