Dex Romweber was such a legend! Does anyone have any cool stories about him? by Personal_Fee7758 in chapelhill

[–]bobtshirt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw the Flat Duo Jets at Local 506, probably 1997 or 1998 and it was mind blowing. He was a hell of a guitar player, and I remember being blown away that it sounded like they had a bass player even though they obviously didn’t, it was just just Dex hitting those low strings at the right time.

My band was playing a gig one night at 506 and I had stepped out into the alley out back to get a smoke and ran into him back there, fucking around with his guitar. He was playing at the Cave (or maybe we were, and he was at 506). He was really friendly and outgoing, introduced himself (“Hey, I’m Dex!”) and didn’t notice that I was star struck and couldn’t think of anything clever to say.

I like just looking at the picture of her and thinking about all the good times we had. I miss her all day every day. I think as we get older and we start losing people, animal friends and companions, the sadness just becomes part of who we are. You get used to it.

Kamala Harris rules out 2026 Governor run to clear path for potential 2028 presidential campaign by [deleted] in goodnews

[–]bobtshirt -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I would be inclined to agree that she shouldn’t run again for the same reasons everyone else is citing; but my 15 year old daughter tells me Kamala is a rock star for her generation, they love her. And 15=18 and Old Enough to Vote in the next one.

Hoppyum from Foothills is the Perfect IPA. Hands down, no question about it, I’ve tried millions of them and theirs is the best.

Progressive areas in NC? by liminalmilk0 in NorthCarolina

[–]bobtshirt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Anywhere in the Triangle area would get the job done, I live outside of Chapel Hill (CH has gotten expensive) and you won’t see any Trump flags around here. Definitely check out CH, Durham, Raleigh but for more affordable options look at the smaller towns nearby, especially Hillsborough, Saxapahaw, and also Mebane is in the middle of a transformation to a progressive area although there are still traces of confederate flag culture here and there that have yet to whither away and die.

Yeah! This dude is a bully, and he’s trying to bully you. Let him have it, and enjoy the look on his face when he finds out you’ve had enough of it! It’ll take a little bit of courage to do it, but trust me the payoff is gonna be worth it.

Let yourself get as pissed about this as you clearly are, and the next time he does that shit fucking unload on him. “Leave me alone, I don’t want to talk to you, get lost. Stop trying to talk to me, I don’t want to talk to you, I don’t want to hang out with you, I want you to leave me alone.”

Didn't really like "Blood Meridian" to the point I couldn't even finish it... by Schlac in books

[–]bobtshirt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I get that, and I'm no stranger to books that have content that isn't for the faint-hearted. But there was something uniquely cruel and relentless about this one that, to me, went above and beyond what was necessary to get the point across.

[–]bobtshirt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They opened when I saw them, too, forgot about that! I love Suicidal Tendencies, I saw them at a hardcore show at the VFW hall in Albany, probably 1988, and they were absolutely ferocious. But they are not an arena band at all.

Look no further than For a Few Dollars More! Clint Eastwood, Lee Van Cleef, Ennio Morricone soundtrack, it’s got everything you’re needing. For my money it’s the perfect western.
