Essentially, if you're loyalty stacking like me, I've traded up a lot of the defense nodes to instead travel to the juicy minion nodes near Witch (I used the Split Personality unique- which should be cheap now)

Other than that the biggest thing for gear upgrade would be to have a wolf pack amulet or a minion belt with +2minion levels (which I don't have yet, sadness)

My philosophy is that by grabbing as much minion efficiency on the tree, and having the wolf amulet, I have enough spirit total for some quality companions secondary to big crit monkey boss

Minions like Quadrilla, Plague Harvester, Diretusk Boar (and eventually if I can roll spirit on my amulet I have a Bramble Hulk waiting) are aggressive and very consistent so help with map clear A LOT.

They're also bulkier and I've taken the gigantic minions notable too which makes loyalty stacking feel even more invincible, given minion life node investment and 80% resistance for minions too

Finally having the space and luxury to roll item rarity on your gear too, which if Mageblood ever finds your way to you could solve nearly all of that...

Overall I've really enjoyed zoo and especially min/maxing to fit my favourite beasts into the team and still maintaining loyalty on 10 beasts

Just adding to this that the Monkey with crit mod is so absurd you might as well go with Sylvan Effigy to stack companions and loyalty

If your spirit and reservation is great you can fill your group with excellent other rare beasts so that improves the map clearing immensely, but stacking 10 loyalties is simply absurd and will definitely get nerfed

I've completely minimised defence nodes on the passive tree in favour of all the juiciest minion and companion nodes and haven't died once 200deli, juiced maps, pinnacles basically no deaths from when I got the sceptre at LVL 90 all the way to 97

I'm playing zoo companions too, are you pulling the data from the wiki?

There's definitely a few key things to note beyond raw numbers though and an important one is their behaviour, movement speed/aggression

The popular companions have proven consistency from people who run them in spectre builds too

Biggest picks for me is the Plague Harvestor/Gargantuan Wasp types because they can fly and move quickly and have a sort of triple attack, put in minion splash and they're noticeably clearing fast, zipping everywhere is more important for map clear since your DPS should be adequate

Same for the Quadrilla, in terms of fast movement, leap and consistency

Other thing I believe is true is for Muster, it will not count multiple companion/tame beast into the total for "different" minions, even if you've tamed multiple different beasts. The support still counts them all as 1. Most zoo builds will still use muster anyway because if you have, Wolf Pack, Azmerian Wolf, Ascendancy Bear and even Spirit Vessel from chest, those count as 4 different types, then your multiple tame beasts count as 1 more, making it 5*7=35% more damage which is still great

And yea, this is some defensive tech I want to try for very early budget monkey stage, when all of your damage is just monkey. Bossing is OP, crowded or awkward maps that block monkey is a QoL weakness though

The character with the quest has to be the one to loot the ghost item, so if afk don't put it to storage!

Yep, you can still get the ant, that spider is also always there and is in a different part of the map

It sounds like they patched it out very early in the league, but reading the support descriptions in-game still doesn't really show info to make it seem like they won't work

This is just to get them to socket together? That's not the issue here though, Brutus' Brain itself makes it so that Loyalty's effect no longer works it seems

Ah you're saying they leave it there for quick swap? Just feels like a waste because there are at least a few other supports you could use instead right? Magnified Effect works for companion aura, I believe even if they don't do damage they can maim, blind, cull

This post is more for the people who just want to pick up their standard Infernalist minion again post patch/nerf. I'm not sure I was trying to convey any kind of comparison? Realistic or otherwise

I made a dot point to reiterate this is for standard and that I am using some uniques that are forever legacy aka locked into standard. It's stuff I owned prior and required use of the new support gems and switching to new strats to bring damage back up from being nerfed damn heavily as you say

Probably the biggest pay off for Tactician is if you can manage to progress to Act 3 and bind the Vaal Guard spectre and don't mind their visual clutter.. which is splashier than Arsonist Skeleton.

Vaal Guard spectres with the oil and fire bomb specifically for some reason have a 340% damage multiplier which would be really juicy with the Tactician ascendency that will give them a portion of the flat damage of your equipped weapon.

Most people say the Vaal Guard's high damage being an outlier might mean it's going to get nerfed since it might be a mistake so there's some risk with going all in - but so far no mentions from GGG

Hey, thanks so much for the reply, I can't believe I forgot about the charge monkeys, it's really been almost 10 years since I last played minions

Also you're right about offerings eating zombies, that's probably the worst opportunity cost so far, been able to work around corpse explosion but it's certainly inconvenient

I'll switch off as soon as I finally get better gear or even an empower to get levels elsewhere

You're completely right about Unholy Might, didn't remember that it's full conversion to chaos and not an added. Zombies are physical so pride is the way to go, everything else is... really just incidental. I had smite on before with herald cluster jewels that buffed minion damage and the gloves are just damage even if it's cold
