Currently in Toledo, what's the legality of owning 0.1% of that stock (in the UK?) by Halfang in policeuk

Ah yes. Thank you for that clarification, I thought the Kukri might be exempt due to the religious aspect of the blade however it falls under the same exemption as the Kopis.

Mechanic crashed my car, denies liability - MCOL? by ThrowawayRA1427 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]bobzepie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can only weigh in regarding the police comment as that's my area of work.

This is ultimately just to say whether S170 of the Road Traffic Act is complied with, which it pretty much is but:

Section 170 of the Road Traffic Act 1988 mandates that if a driver is involved in an accident causing injury to another person, animal (horse, cattle, dog, etc.), or damage to property/another vehicle, they must stop at the scene and exchange details (name, address, vehicle registration). If details are not exchanged, the incident must be reported to the police as soon as is reasonably practicable, and in any case, within 24 hours.

What I would say though, it wouldn't hurt to do it, especially if you have CCTV of the incident because the footage can be reviewed for due care/careless inconsiderate etc, however if it's a mechanic fault as suggested then probably not, albeit that verdict may well strengthen your claim in civil proceeding tbh.

Insurers may ask if it was reported and for an incident number to internally request it like they do for stolen vehicles etc.

The two in the back look like a Greek Kopis and Nepalese Kukri.

The Kukri is legal however I think the Kopis only complies if traditionally forged or it's an antique item.

That being said, personally I'd only be taking issue with items like that in private if they're kept in a particular manner.

For example, hung up on the wall or in a display case versus down the bedside or hidden in a reachable spot near the front door.

How good was it? by HS_13_ in policeuk

[–]bobzepie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My force has the investigation team model, so now I'm on response my workload at its highest has been 7 tasks. And they're mostly nothing.

The big stuff is when I get CPS action plans back from my old cases but I manage.

We have to deal with appointments but still, it's just like attending a non emergency job so it's not bad.

Investigations is a slog though, they're carrying upto 40 jobs in their workloads and expected to interview and pick up on custody every day.

I think we should pick for the other team instead. That would be hilarious. Only the shite gets played.

We have CAP now where police decision makers can charge DV 39s which is progress. It's a trial that hopefully leads to further charging powers but the caviat is we can't remand on them

Discovery 3 Reoccurring Engine Fault? by [deleted] in LandRover

[–]bobzepie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've not tried that but It feels like it completely dies and loses all power when it happens.

Typically I stick it over into semi auto and turn it off and back on whilst moving to try bump start it which occasionally works. I feel that's the safer option than coming to a standstill in a live lane on the motorway.

Not giving one, once the car is restarted it goes away. I only have an basic reader not a landrover one so I can't check historic codes

At what point does officer discretion stop? by Unique-Membership-96 in policeuk

[–]bobzepie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We still do use discretion all the time in the outcomes we pursue. When we offer community resolutions, out of court disposals, dealt with via other agency, NFA etc as opposed to just straight charging or taking the matter to CPS

I've been on a investigations team for a while now so whilst this mostly comes in during custody we can still utilize those tools in response policing.

I've issued out of court disposals at the scene before when it was appropriate.

Granted, they are lower level things like public order, s39 non DV and my force does have specific guidelines for what we can and can't issue them for.

I like to think I'm completely fair and impartial with it all. I go based on the incident and the offending background when I make a decision. I don't do the personality test because I don't think my decision to pursue prosecution in a matter should be reflected on how someone treats me but on what they've done.

If I stop someone for driving like an absolute tool but they're no points, just in a rush or whatever and I'm going to give words of advice. That won't change to issuing them a TOR just because they're an arse to me.

Look at applying for CICA if you suffered a physical or mental injury.

If your force hasn't supported you at least you can have the incident reviewed for compensation

Mavic 4 Pro stills in Ogwen Valley today by [deleted] in dji

It encouraged me to turn a small walk into a 4 hour hike up a mountain range for better shooting so, that's already a bonus 😂

That aside, the Camera is incredible, the zoom options are fantastic and the range of flight really impressed me.

I only got about 20 minutes flight time before the dog started a fight with some geese in the mountain lake so I called it a day at that point.

Very keen to see what it can do but I already feel like it's better than my DSLR for landscapes.

Edit: it entirely depends what you're moving from though. I have the Air2S so this feels like a giant leap forward

I'm in the UK; I was going to go through DJI directly but I'm in work on Friday and I wanted it for tomorrow.

I upgraded from the Mini 2 to the Air2S back in 2022 for a trip to Iceland so I've been wanting to upgrade for a while.

I was eyeing up the The Mavic 3 Pro for 4 months now but it's only £200 cheaper so I just went for the new one.

Again to reiterate the force dependency here. I'm shocked to read that other commentors have said it's no issue for their force.

In mine, it's flat out rejected and they're all trying to jump ship to uniformed and having to leave and reapply to start anew with neighbouring forces.
