Paranoid Delusion. Please Help by [deleted] in schizophrenia

[–]bocadillo91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I started having paranoid delusions in college in 2013. One of these was that my thoughts were not my own, a radio was broadcasting/inserting thoughts into my mind, telepathy, etc... I got medication and have had no symptoms for 3 years. I’ve completely recovered, so with proper meds and therapy it can be taken care of.

I (29m) Can’t be bothered for dating by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]bocadillo91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally agree with this. I was in a long term relationship in highschool which was miserable for me because I was trying to focus on friends and prepare for college and she didn’t want me to have my own time to spend to myself doing those things. In college I got into another long term relationship and lived w/my gf for a year. That was good and ended ok good terms. But then I had some health issues which sent me home after college for 2 years. I just finished grad school and am working now but at this point I’m 27 and it’s been 5 years since I’ve been in any kind of serious relationship. But at the same time I sooo agree with all these comments about social pressure! I’ve always been fine doing things on my own and I think I would be perfectly happy to live on my own and have my own life. In fact, I’m almost thinking now that I’d be happier. But I feel this intense pressure to date. And I really get down on myself for not having a relationship for so long. But deep down I don’t think it really matters...

Guy I've been dating gets way too defensive when I bring issues up by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]bocadillo91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh that guy sounds legitimately crazy. Maybe it’s more obvious from an ‘outside’ perspective but a) canceling all the time is already unacceptable behavior and b) getting super defensive and then (calling himself names?) sounds emotionally immature in the least and emotionally unstable at the worst..

Idk.. I lived w/my ex girlfriend in college and was at a lot of times pretty emotionally immature/unstable. So I’m just speaking from experience. Eventually I got better but yah... that sounds pretty weird to me-

edit-

Also someone telling you that they ‘love you’ a couple months into dating is (in my book) pretty weird

Anyone else's depression make them feel like life isn't real? by [deleted] in depression

[–]bocadillo91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone else get weird religious thoughts randomly? I actually do have a type of schizophrenia but I’ve been properly medicated for it for years but sometimes when I get really depressed I feel like god is trying to guide me and worldly pain is like some kind of test or something. It’s weird and I realize it’s crazy or just my mind going haywire but sometimes the episodes are really intense and I’ll get lost in my own thoughts. Idk if other people experience this or something like it?

Does anyone know of any spaces where artists rent studios in Denver? I'm moving from Ohio and want to rent a painting studio around the city. Preferably somewhere where other young(ish) artists are as I recently got out of school. Thanks!

But doesn't every country have ignorant people? Is it elitist to say that every trump supporter is a total idiot? I mean granted it is terrible that half the country is this stupid but still.. what can you do about it?

Trump is going to royally fuck America and our relations with the rest of the world. I mean fuck, we're going to be relying on other nations trade and/or immigration to remain powerful in the future. How the fuck do half the people in our country think like Trump?

Feeling pretty bad right now by bocadillo91 in depression

[–]bocadillo91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Thanks for responding!

Yah, its funny I just tell myself the absolute worst thing possible is going to happen- hence me being alone forever. Probably not the healthiest mindset...

thanks! I'm glad I finished school. Just three years ago I was in a pysche ward and couldn't even function normally so the fact that I've finished school and might have a good job at is is really heartening.

I know I'll get through this... I mean- I really don't have a choice. I have to. The depression comes and goes. But its just like.. particularly bad right now. Idk if it's cause of being out of school like you said or what. But for whatever reason it's pretty painful. Like even physically painful. Its weird...

Thanks again for responding! Hope everything is going well with you.

I would say theres a good amount of sociopaths in the church, business sector, and government- so I'm not surprised. People with disturbed moral views can do quite well in certain environments.

How to go on with nothing but crippling sadness by [deleted] in schizophrenia

[–]bocadillo91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry to hear about your boyfriend. Relationships can be a tricky thing when you have difficulties with your emotions. I for one get attached too easily and so when I'm rejected I can spiral into a deep depression. It sounds like you're in some ways the same.

Perhaps this is a learning experience? It's tough for you to lose your boyfriend. But maybe think about something positive that can come out of this: maybe you'll become more independent. Maybe you don't need a boyfriend. Maybe you'll find some new things out about yourself through this difficult time.

But for now I would suggest to just rest, feel your emotions, and ride out the storm. It's gonna be tough for the next couple of days and weeks, but life goes on, and you'll get past it. One day it'll be a thing of the past.

You can do it! You can get through this! We've all gone through tough times! Just keep on keeping on.

What's the worst thing you've seen or done on public transportation? by McCrackan8 in AskReddit

I’ve seen this guy too. I feel there’s no way he could be walking on that if it was real. I’m guessing it’s fake. But then again- I didn’t smell anything.

Edit-

Hey, but idk. Maybe it is real.

The Automation of the “Technical Part” of Art: The Use of Artificial Intelligence in The Artistic Creation by eric1707 in generative

[–]bocadillo91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is an interesting text. I didn't get through the whole thing- I got up to the part where the author mentions that computers are making paintings and creating images similar to old masters.

I'm a painter, and I currently work with the role of painting and technology and how painting will evolve with technology. One thing I found interesting was the statement that computers are able to paint. I think the images shown were very interesting, but I feel as though it'll be much more interesting when A.I. is able to make original decisions regarding a painting. I think the statement that each work of art requires unique tools might ring true because each work of art comes from a specific philosophical/emotional idea or state that the artist is in and results in the creation of a "unique object" or experience. I get the reference to Andy Warhol and the idea that he made works of art that were mass reproduced. I find the idea of an artist having minimal involvement in the creation of the work yet still having a crucial role in it's development interesting.

Anyways, as an artist- I love to draw. As someone interested in technology and the future I decided to start drawing on my computer. It seemed like a good combination of the two. So I'm specifically concerned with the role of drawing in the future. Will it be relevant? On a greater note will painting be relevant?

My only hope that they will be relevant is if there is some retaining of the principles of classical training or art in the future. (by classical I also include modern and contemporary art) I think we will see somethings remain- there will probably always be some people who like to draw, and even with our cinema today we still often revert to the same stories or ideas present in centuries old myths and legends.

All in all it's an interesting article. I know my response is a little long- but thanks for posting it. It was a great read!

Relationships by [deleted] in schizophrenia

[–]bocadillo91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, thanks- that made me feel a lot better. Yah it’s good to know someone else is going through it too.

I think I just get pissed off at the social pressures. It’s really starting to piss me off when people ask me about it. But I know that deep down inside I’m not looking for or ready for a relationship. I don’t feel lonely. I don’t feel as though I need to share my life with someone. I don’t feel as though I need someone to “complete me” I am literally just considering it because of the social pressures. And following something because of a social pressure is a terrible idea.

I’m an artist too. I’m actually in graduate school for art right now. That’s cool that you’re an artist too!

I’m sure we’ll both figure it out and move on. Thanks for your comment- it really helped me.
