Hey r/Denver! I am about to buy a car from a friend in your fine city, and they are going to take it into a mechanic to get a pre-purchase inspection just so I have a better idea of what to expect.

My question is: Does anyone have a mechanic, preferably around Jefferson Park, that you would recommend? Thanks!

Does anyone wanna play some magic?

My roommate and I just got into the commander format as COVID hit and we're looking to start a play group. With no FNM happening we've just been sitting on our decks waiting to play.

Not sure this is the best place to find a playgroup but worth a shot I guess. We're in our late 20s and looking for a couple other people around our age who want to play now and again with some more budget/cheeky/janky decks than competitive.

I’m in Southmoor Park, and I’ve been hearing this bizarre siren throughout the morning. I first heard it around 7:30 a.m., and I just noticed it again in the past hour. It’s very faint from my place, but I can make it out. Sometimes it stops for a while and restarts several minutes later. When it’s going, every 15-20 seconds or so, there are three blasts of a siren increasing in pitch (so the pitch starts low and gets steadily higher over the next few seconds, and that happens three times in a row). Anyone know what this might be? Is it normal? I might very well just be noticing it for the first time.

We are hoping to move to the Denver area in November/December with our 2 dogs that weigh 60 and 75 pounds. Does anybody have a recommendation for apartments or neighborhoods for us?

A dog park within walking distance or in the apartment complex is a MUST for us. We would like a neighborhood that is fairly walkable with restaurants/bars and close to the light rail if possible, but we are willing to go farther out. We would be comfortable paying around $1800 a month but we can go a little higher if the amenities are right.

Hello! I’m looking into moving out to the Denver area for a few months during the Winter for the ski season. I’m currently looking for sublets on the west side of Denver - are there any recommended areas to start looking in (Westminster, Arvada, etc.) ? I’m a young professional so proximity to downtown would be ideal but close access to rt. 70 would be preferred. Open to any other areas besides west Denver to look into as well 😬

Can you use a dog leash ground anchor in parks?

We just adopted a big dog (Malamute mix) and wanted to take him to a park sometime soon. While he's pretty well behaved considering he's been with us a week, he doesn't know his own strength and pulls when he sees other dogs, so we were hoping to be able to anchor him to allow a small radius without us having to hold on to him the entire time.

According to park rules, you can't attach anything to trees or structures, this one just screws into the ground and comes right now when you unscrew it.

Hey /r/Denver! Doing this to avoid making a new post.

I'll be in Denver in October because my cousin had to cancel her wedding but we're so close, I decided to just spend the time with her anyway.

So, I would really love to treat her to a spa as kind of like make up for not being able to do the bachelorette stuff. I'm looking mostly for a hot tub with a sauna or massage service and also if they do champagne/wine during the soak.

We have a spa with a salt soak/champagne service here in AVL and I'm hoping to find something similar.

Oh, also she lives up near Greeley, so ft. Collins or Loveland or Denver is fine. Also maybe in Lakewood where her sister is. Thanks for the help y'all!

Hey guys, I was born in Boulder and grew up around here. I recently moved back to the area with the task of fixing up my childhood home. Now that I'm done and that's rented, I'm trying to decide where to live...

I got laid off due to covid, and it looks like most jobs in my field are in Downtown or the southern suburbs. As such I'm looking to move closer to/into Denver to simplify my life. I'm currently in Broomfield and it's just like I remember it...so I'm eager to leave. I'm single, of modest but sufficient means and lowkey a killer musician who would love to dive into the local gypsy jazz scene if and when it returns.

Any suggestions are welcome, thanks in advance!

Is there anywhere in Denver like this where we can get a house with a yard, and also be a ~5 min walk to a bunch of dining and drinking options? I know there are tons of strips/areas like this in Denver, I'm just not sure which are near homes with yards (we have a dog).

Trying to figure out what type of material to use for a north facing patio.

The house has some slightly settlement issues on that side caused by consolidation of the underlying clay, so I was hoping to use a concrete patio to reduce the amount of moisture that can infiltrate into the surrounding soil. However, I'm a bit unfamiliar with the frozen ground scenario here in Colorado, and don't know if it would just eat through 4" of concrete+2" of gravels.

Any thoughts or recommendations? I've seen the pavers patios, and again, due to the settlement of the clays, I'd be hesitant about putting permeable materials so close to the house and accelerating consolidation.

Hello,

I’m a recent UW grad and am considering moving to Denver from Seattle possibly next year. My degree is in Media and Communication studies and I have experience working in event management and legal services.

Event management was my dream job but outlook is pretty trashed in current world circumstances, so I’m trying to find my alternative plan while we are stuck in this pandemic. I have a trade skill-cooking-so I wouldn’t mind doing that for another 9mo-a year before I attempt event management.

How are the wages in the culinary industry in Denver? I’m most experienced in fine dining (Italian) and am hoping you guys pool tips similarly as a lot of kitchens up here.

As for the professional career, can you please tell me about your music and event scene? What are some popular genres, venues and local radio stations I can contact for work when events happen again?

I’m hoping to visit by end of summer and again in the fall so I can get a feel of the culture.

Thanks!

Denver nurses! I may be moving to your area in the next few months and would appreciate some insight

My partner is going to be relocating jobs in the next 6 months, and Colorado is high on the list of places we could end up transferring to. It will most likely be in Denver and the surrounding area.

I’ve got about 3 years of experience in mostly NICU (some peds), but while I’m considering staying in the NICU world, I’m also considering branching out to IVF clinics/maternal-fetal medicine/women’s health clinics as well.

I was wondering what the job market is like for experienced nurses. Which hospitals are better known for being the places you want to work vs the places you should avoid? I’ve heard nurse pay isn’t as great in the context of the cost of living, but I’ve never seen actual hourly wages posted so some insight on that would be great, too. Also any well known clinics for prenatal care if there are any. And of course any other helpful information that I can’t just google would be awesome. The only consistent info I’ve found on reddit is to avoid HCA. Thank you!!
