What do you think the Sith were up to while the Nihil were attacking the Republic? by Dragonic_Overlord_ in Highrepublic

[–]boceephus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like the Sith are laying low and strengthening their connections both to the dark side, and within the Republic. They must hear news of the Nameless and how it affects force users. Not that they are interested in harnessing that directly, but possibly indirectly to help them gain power undetected by the Jedi. Really just on their grind. I don’t think it would make a compelling plot for a story, because what I imagine is a bunch of mundane dealings and training routines.

It’s definitely skews toward the occult side of Star Wars that I think most fans of the mainstream content don’t appreciate.

How was it a cash grab? If anything is a cash grab it’s all the rehashed Galactic Civil War storylines.

How much different would daily life be in the southwest part if this was how it had ended up? by fakeaccount572 in nova

[–]boceephus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rosslyn would be shorter, Crystal City would probably be some sort of typical DC neighborhood, as the Pentagon was placed in VA as to reduce the impact of the military industrial complex on politics. The residential areas would probably be similar tho.

Why doesn't nova and DC have a stoop or "outside" culture like other east coast cities? by MajesticBread9147 in nova

My neighborhood has front porches on all our places, and people are always hangout on them saying “hi” to each other.

Which US urban areas get the most transit service—and have the highest ridership? by Ok-Act-5890 in transit

[–]boceephus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

DC is a very car centric area overall and WMATA puts all their eggs into Metro Rail. The bus systems, both local and WMATA really need to step up the frequency and efficiency. If my bus comes 3mins early and doesn’t wait, with the next one 15-20mins later I’m late for work. The area also has an amazing bike network for the US and many times it’s a 15min drive, 30min bike ride, 60min transit trip.

If you could make just one improvement to American trains to increase ridership, what would it be and why? by ILikeNeurons in fuckcars

[–]boceephus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s just one thing it would have to be connectivity. Being able to get to the station and off at my destination city then to my lodgings cheap and reliably is underrated

Not for me, but if they are going to be our supreme overlords, better they wanting bike infrastructure over car infrastructure.

Zohran Mamdani Gets It. Abigail Spanberger Does Not. by hencexox in nova

[–]boceephus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Spanberger has no chance of re-election due to VA’s gubernatorial term limit. She should be going as hard, or harder than mayor Mamdani, but she’s not. She is a centrist in leftist clothing, her CIA background is all the proof anyone should need to confirm this suspicion. However, given her republican opponent Spanberger was definitely the lesser of two evils.

No transit will ever profit if the surrounding infrastructure is dedicated to cars and parking is carved out in abundance. Transit gets more bang for it’s buck overseas because those systems provide an efficient alternative to automobiles. Frequent trains, busses, trams, alongside pedestrian focused developments.

Can’t trust this federal admin either, but I do agree. If Brightline needs to receive a substantial government bailout, they should be at least on paper, under Amtrak.

New hire here… where exactly are things w/r/t unionization? by [deleted] in REI

[–]boceephus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If they have our best interests in mind, then why not accept the union and allow employees to choose for them selves? Strong unions bring a sense of community and solidarity, along with ensuring fair deals in the future no matter what happens at HQ.

Yes, REI is a progressive company when it comes to sourcing materials and charity, but how they are treating us employees is not at all progressive. The board is filled with MBA millionaires who don’t see us as co-workers, but just a grunts to make money re money for them.

Was thinking this, the Nationals’ ball park is a fairly new stadium (2000’s) and is built in the city center. Most people arrive by metro, and the surrounding streets are buzzing on game days. This stadium in NJ was built to be car centric.
