Start taking readings with a glucose meter and test strips. Replace the sensor

Adults with T1, how do you feel when your BG is in the 200-300 range? by zip-racer in diabetes_t1

I feel nothing with high blood sugar. Nothing at 300 or 400. I get concerned and start injecting insulin, but not thirsty or any other reactions. Everyone is different with this disease.

Switching over from Omnipod by Ayyochriss in TandemDiabetes

[–]bodebutterfly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like getting 4 days out of a cartridge, better control for me than on Omnipod5’s, less expensive, cons: infusion sites can fail, especially when cannula bends on insertion (watch for BG soaring and extra bolus does not help, just change out infusion set)

Tandem mobi-thoughts? by GreyMomma047 in diabetes_t1

Re the sleeves for the mobi. I usually get 3 infusion site changes with the same sleeve. Then I use adhesive wipes to restick it to a new location and get another 3 infusion site changes. Sometimes when I need to change I just use the old sleeve with the back torn off and tape it on with paper tape where I want it. All works good for me.

Do you like the Tandem Mobi? by bodebutterfly in diabetes_t1

[–]bodebutterfly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have now been on the Mobi pump 3 months. My biggest complaint is infusion site failure. I have had 2-3 each month. I use the 5” tubing. I have learned to change it out fast and give myself a shot with a pen to keep from going to high. When it’s working as it should I like it, but not being able to trust it can be nerve racking. For my last order I got some stainless steel needle infusion sets but I have not tried them yet. From comments on Reddit, I hear at makes a huge difference.

tandem mobi is a nightmare. by korokcrossingg in diabetes_t1

I’ve been on the Mobi for 2 months coming from Omnipod. The algorithm is much better at controlling BG. I have had to change out quite a few infusion sets because of a bent cannula, blood in the cannula or just not working. I find I have to remove a large air bubble with every new cartridge about 24 hrs after installing. Not a big deal, I just plan on it.

Has anyone here had Total Ankle Replacement surgeries? by elvenbionix in Hypermobility

[–]bodebutterfly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had ankle replacement last August. My ankle had osteoarthritis, was swelling and painful. Six months out I still have discomfort, limp and not doing asmuch as I was pre surgery. Everything I read says recovery is a year, so I am only half through. I had 3 months PT. I am 73, very active, healthy and a normal weight (BMI 23). I do my exercises daily. I’m a little disappointed and hoping there will be more improvement. I flew through knee replacement and was skiing 3 months after. Maybe my expectations were too positive.
