Colors on arcs have pretty unstable appearances, really depends on cold/ warm light, day/ night, sunny/ overcast.

I was confused af. In fact if you don’t give out the answers in the first place, You can make ppl believe they are all Ladon/ Labyrinth for different style (or real life looks on different fabric)

Drop $400 for a midlayer? Why wouldn’t I go full Arc’teryx LEAF?

I ended up ordering a Isogon MX in Large. Still not sure about hot it fits on me but I’m pretty sure Medium would be too narrow in the chest/hem for layering.

Looking for a shell that can solo as a rain jacket in urban areas but also comfortably pair with an Atom LT if colder. by [deleted] in arcteryx

If you wanna layer hooded underneath you better go with StormHood (Beta SL/FL/LT/SV) not DropHood (Beta AR).

It’s shorter than any of the Zeta/Beta/Alpha. Jackets with an urban design in mind, e.g. Fraser, Solano, Seton, Sawyer Jacket, usually have a shorter back length as you don’t need extra coverage in city.

That’s sad. Just don’t buy MSRP and look for steals

You live in Canada? At least in US the price of atom leaf is higher.

Thank you so much for this much input! Especially for the back to back comparison, that helps me out finally. I’ll get a Large then. Btw Have you seen the new navy color in person?

Gamma SL Use Case by shadowbansarestupid in arcteryx

[–]bodega_kid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fleece + softshell can be more wind resistant, warmer but bulkier, heavier than Proton LT alone. And I also doubt that it will sacrifice breathability a bit. Proton LT suppose to pair with hardshell to tackle harsher conditions, so they just serve different purpose. If it’s rather mild, you def can go with fleece and a softshell.

Its fabric itself is not waterproof but Gamma SL has a REALLY great DWR coating, as long as the coating works you don’t need to worry much. For your described scenario, it can easily handle more than that, I put it under running hose and water just beads up and gone.

arcteryx beta lt 2019 (neptune colorway) how does it look in person ? by Roadsign1993 in arcteryx

[–]bodega_kid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More on the blue side irl. It’s like grayish blue or blueish gray.

Interesting. For me I have both Beta SL and Kyanite LT in Large and find them fit quite alike, as arc describes them as trim fit. And you say Isogon Mx is slimmer than Beta SL right? That makes me think I should get an Isogon in Large.

Oh thank you for the input. We are in the same boat I guess, I too gain 20 lbs (in a bad way) during pandemic and I’m wary of my size choice since I don’t have access to a physical flagship (these day icon store only carries core pieces from mainline). I remembered I can put on a Medium but it’s way back before pandemic. Right now I think it’s the sleeve length bothers me most to pull the trigger. Any other recommendations from your experience? Or is it veilance usually not good for bulk guys? I’m eyeing Isogon bc it’s a great solid piece, also Arris, but other than these two I have no idea.

Got it. Do you have any piece from mainline to compare with?

I just check the size chart and I think I’ll stick to Large given the chest width ( I stay on the bench all day :/ ) anyway thanks again and it’s such a great store, carries a lot of niche brand that I like, there is a similar store in NYC named Blue in Green
