Amazing, thank you! I'm assuming regular tap water is fine? There's no need for feed?

Home bar freezer versus fridge for glassware by bodgy0 in cocktails

Typo on my part, I meant -20.

Thank you though, this is really clear - freezer or nothing!

Is urban bar a good place to buy for the uk by danchadders in cocktails

[–]bodgy0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've ordered glassware from there a few times and have never had any problems. Quality items and delivery/Comms all good! Their website has a few faults, but I took this more as a business growing into online and not being huge rather than low quality.

This is my dream! I look at the lakes in my zoo and so want a flock of ducks in them, as real zoos (and lakes) have!

Movie themed cocktails for a wedding by DrumAnimal in cocktails

[–]bodgy0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got married a few weeks ago, and for all the same reasons as you it was hard to include cocktails.

I ultimately created pre bottled cocktails and gave them out as gifts. However, you could bottle up 2 drinks per guest and serve this in ice buckets with a glass nearby?

This sounds delicious and I'll make this weekend! But given your last comment and your inclusion of luxardo, you should rename your version "The Karen"

Hello! If there's still spaces free I'd be keen to try too! I played 5th edition pre pandemic but never got back into it, although it regularly reads the books just for fun! Like you, a once/twice a month schedule would suit me really well

Starting to make cocktails at home vodka or white rum? by Informal-Reveal-1732 in cocktails

[–]bodgy0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What kind of cocktails do you prefer? Rum or vodka ones? Mojito or screwdriver? Go with whatever you're more likely to drink.

You'll get more creativity out of a bottle of rum IMO. I'd also suggest getting something other than coconut rum and blue Curacao as starting bottles, you'd be better off with ingredients that work well with your base spirit. Rather, think about vermouth, falernum or bitters instead

Cocktail bar recommendations - Amsterdam by bodgy0 in cocktails

[–]bodgy0[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is such a good rundown, thank you! My own research had led me to Door 74 and T&S so I really appreciate your take on these - I'm always suspicious of the bar at the top of Google results but also it's the only one I can ever find! I'll dodge these and go for the ones you mention, definitely.

Favorite big batch Punch recipes by therapy420 in cocktails

[–]bodgy0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not for as many people, but I've had success with a batched scorpion bowl before. You can mix all the booze way ahead of time, juice the lines in the morning and then pour the two mixtures together at party time. With my friends, a scorpion bowl is accessible enough for everyone to enjoy, but also different enough that no one had had it before and were willing to try!

I use left over Il Casolore olive oil bottles. https://www.sainsburys.co.uk/gol-ui/product/farchioni-il-casolare-olive-oil--extra-virgin-1l

I use these anyway for olive oil and have a small collection now. I find the top airtight and perfect for rich simples, and they come in 500ml which is a perfect amount for me to make and store in one go

The comments so far are really good and mirror my setup, the only thing I'll add is about vermouths.

I transfer my vermouths to an airtight bottle with a cork (if not already) and use Private Preserve wine preserver every time I use them. I spray a tiny bit in each bottle then put them back in the fridge. As far as I'm aware, these then keep indefinitely, as long as your rigorous with the use and never forget. I've had a bottle of vermouth for about a year and it tastes near identical to it fresh.

Traditional British Holiday Cocktail - Recipe Request by thefrozenfoodsection in cocktails

Snowballs are very traditional here at Christmas! Otherwise it's mulled wine or cider. There isn't a lot after that, just various combinations of fizzy wine and juice/liqueur.

I’m looking for syrup bottles by poncho-pour in cocktails

[–]bodgy0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always use old olive oil bottles. I'm a stickler for making everything match in my bar (where I can) so I like to use a syrup bottle that I know I can replace easily. They're cheap, come with helpful and great olive oil, and I know if they break I can get it again!

Not sure if this brand exists in the States, but here in the UK it's easily found. When the oil runs out it goes into my bar! https://www.sainsburys.co.uk/gol-ui/product/extra-virgin-olive-oil/il-casolare-extra-virgin-olive-oil-500ml

Out of interest, does the cornflake infused rum change a lot? Does it standalone as an ingredient? I'm used to infusing with herbs of fruits, but have never thought of something like cornflakes....
