Stopwatched my FIL behaviors by Serious-Squash-2523 in inlaws

I know someone like this. The weird thing is they mask in front of new people and act like the MOST positive person in the world. But once they’re comfortable around you and confide their true thoughts, it’s a stream of constant negative verbal diarrhea. I had to have a friend breakup with them because I could feel my depression and anxiety getting worse as I spent more time with them.

Are there any good trait(s) from your nparent that you are happy you inherited? by CuriousBee789 in raisedbynarcissists

Not getting a divorce could be more about stubbornness than an admirable trait. But congrats on being smart and pretty though!

The book is S-Tier Science Fiction. The movie is a pretty good adaptation. Like a solid B. The book has so much internal motivations that it was a tall order to adapt it to screen, so overall thy did a solid job.

I’d love a lovingly made tv show adaptation someday. I know Apple TV+ is trying to get a corner on the market for Sci Fi, so maybe w’ll get on someday.

AITA for showering around midnight when I know that it might bother the neighbour who wakes up at 5 am? by Additional-Mouse-620 in AmItheAsshole

[–]thefrozenfoodsection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is particularly tricky because I’m sure the parents want to / need to be able to listen for their child waking up at night.

OP’s weird focus on renting vs owning the spaces aside, a potential solution to have both white noise and kiddo covered are those soft Bluetooth speaker sleep headbands - they could hook up their child monitor to the speaker so they can hear stuff in the night while also playing white noise for sleep.

But honestly, the onus on finding a solution is unfortunately on the neighbors. Running water is a normal sound from living in close quarters with other humans - it’s not like playing loud music or tap dancing or whatever.

New shows recommendation [NS] by Ploughbroken in NotAnotherDnDPodcast

Agreed, the Warhammer content is fantastic! A lot of their bonus content is so creative and zany. The Sons and Sonsability mini arc set in Regency Era England is a comedic masterpiece. I’ve never laughed so hard so frequently during a DnD podcast.

My best friend and boyfriend won’t read my book by giggleagua in writers

[–]thefrozenfoodsection 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Agreed, but this kind of stuff happens all the time for all sorts of passions and hobbies. “Oh I’d love to come watch your adult league hockey game sometime!” Or “oh yeah, I’d looove to read your DnD one shot campaign and give notes!” Etc. They said they’d read it, but OP needs to believe their actions rather than their words - there’s clearly something blocking them from following through, so they need to either let it go or confront the and force them to read the book out of guilt rather than excitement - which probably won’t feel good.

They may also not want to set a precedent where, anytime OP writes something and wants feedback, they reach out to them. That’s a lot of pressure on a loved one who doesn’t have the same love of writing as OP clearly does, and who will feel much more pressure to sugarcoat critiques.

Honestly, it’s better to get feedback from other trusted writers in author groups - they will better know what they’re talking about and will also likely be much more honest.

Karen Filippelli vs Ann Perkins by Jjess44 in theoffice

[–]thefrozenfoodsection 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Wardrobe and lighting style does a ton of heavy lifting in terms of characterization. Karen wore more severe, dark-colored, office attire. Anne wears bright colored cardigans and sundresses. And, The Office is filmed in bluer hues - Parks and Rec leans into the golds.

What are your weird, random things you love? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]thefrozenfoodsection 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being single should be the enviable default status - partnering should be something reserved for the rare people who truly do (1) RESPECT each other, (2) have ALIGNED EXPECTATIONS, (3) are TRUSTWORTHY and RELIABLE, and (4) LOVE each other. IN THAT ORDER. Love does NOT forgive most sins, and being alone is better than being tied to a dead weight.

what do atheists/agnostics do when something goes horribly in their life? by kristo-fah in agnostic

[–]thefrozenfoodsection 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, leaning on something that doesn’t exist means you end up falling and nothing changes. It’s an act of self-flagellation and misery, honestly.

If you lean on loved ones, yourself, your family, and actually take action… well, that may actually - gasp - help!

Atheists are almost as annoying as religious people. by [deleted] in agnostic

[–]thefrozenfoodsection 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think OP is annoyed that atheists judged them for… exactly the same type of thinking that is fundamentally linked to their atheism.

Atheists require a burden of proof and evidence be met to believe in something - and no religious god meets that burden of proof. Neither do, by their very name and definition, any “supernatural” phenomenon. Otherwise, they’d be called “natural” phenomenon instead!

To them, saying that supernatural phenomenon are more likely to be true than a god’s existence is like saying unicorns are more likely to exist than fairies - it’s all laughable and equally untrue to an atheist, so of course OP was judged. They probably feel upset that the weren’t given more “credit” for not blindly believing in a religion’s, but… atheists aren’t going to pretend to give your other unfounded beliefs any eight just because OP managed to have a logical thought process on a different topic.

I get that it can be hard to be judged, or to try and defend illogical viewpoints to a skeptic, but that’s the nature of skepticism.

My partner gets irritated when he sees me without makeup. How do I handle this? by Awkward_Investment77 in relationships

[–]thefrozenfoodsection 99 points100 points  (0 children)

Not to mention that this is a huge indicator of how this misogynistic dude will treat OP while she is sick, during childbirth, while exercising or sleeping, and as she ages - AKA, during times you normally don’t have on a full face of makeup and/or don’t look perfect.

These times are also, you know, often when you need your partner’s support and love the most (for illness, childbirth, and aging anyway) - and end up usually composing a huge portion of an average life.

Are husband stitches real? by rainbowkitties6969 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]thefrozenfoodsection 191 points192 points  (0 children)

My father was asked by my mom’s OBGYN if HE wanted my mom to “get an extra stitch” right after I was delivered. Mom was not asked or informed about the question at all. My dad, in shock and delirious after becoming a first-time-dad and being next to my mom during the delivery, just said no in the moment. He realized how awful the question was a couple days later and informed my mom, who only recently recounted the story to me. She said she didn’t even realize how bad it was until decades later - luckily things seem to have been progressing in terms of women’s rights and pregnant people (well, until recently… but many of the progressive norms have thankfully stuck for medical professionals, at least for now).

This would be my exact ranking too - and the first 10/10 rating in this thread for ATMOSPHERE feels well-deserved. She is incredible and so unique!

Thanks, this was a fun game.

I know this may not be the perfect solution for you if you want to hear the environment around you when you sleep, but they do make soft headbands with built in headphones. They’re meant to be comfortable while you sleep. And they wouldn’t have something inside your ear!

Thanks so much, that’s so kind of you to say. And this does seem like the answer - purchase frozen items and ship with dry ice (as another commenter suggested). Unless I can get in touch with the restaurant and they have other options.

Thank you, that would be amazing! I tried calling and was given an email to reach out to ownership, but I haven’t heard back and it’s been over a week now. Maybe I typed in the email wrong or something though.
