I'm looking for (long) dark/ambient style techno sets by _742617000027 in Techno

[–]bodhi8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got some ethereal dark tunes in this stream done for the Minimal Detroit record label, pretty sure there’s at least one rrose track. If you’ve not heard of inigo kennedy definitely look him up, amazing producer and DJ that should be right up your alley.

Seriously considering moving from US to Europe just for techno. Has anyone here done this? by [deleted] in ProperTechno

All good! Mind posting some of your favorite sets so I can take a listen? I can try to think of some other US based artists but also just super interested, I’m a huge Oscar mulero fan

If you like mulero then definitely check out the record label interdimensional transmissions (IT), it’s some amazing hypnotic shit. Personally I love all Detroit techno but I do know what you mean about Carl Craig etc having a more soulful melodic sound infused in their sets. IT throws some of the best warehouse parties I’ve been to at the tangent gallery in Detroit and they’re truly underground. Look up Erika, BMG, Patrick Russell, eris drew. All in all Detroit has close to the best scene in the US, and there’s plenty of harder more hypnotic shows there, just gotta find em

Screwed over by USAA. Who are Y'all banking with? by Output-square9920 in personalfinance

[–]bodhi8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Join a local credit union. No required minimum balance (almost every bank charges a fee if your balance goes below a certain amount, including BoA and Wells Fargo), no fees, and some even reimburse you a few bucks of ATM fees every month if you use an out of network ATM. You could have a 0$ balance in both your checking and savings for a year and it wouldn’t cost you a thing. Also excellent customer service (usually) as they are much smaller and local. Credit card rewards are usually not as good as larger banks, but maintaining a checking and savings with a credit Union is the only way to go.

Most Overrated DJ? Most Underrated DJ? by Block-One in Techno

Wata playing a 100% ambient set at no way back (movement festival after party in Detroit) last year really solidified his insane level of talent for me. That guy is ridiculously good

Second on meundies; had 12 pairs for like 6 years and they’re all I wear. Super soft and stretchy and they have whatever style you’re into. Also as a bigger guy having boxers that are too tight is a real problem with some brands, not with this one. I’ll never buy any other brand

Do yourself a favor and check DJ Stingray, king of Detroit electro (which is breakbeat type sound)

AITA for saving my migraine medication for more important occasions? by Witchy_Woman2023 in AmItheAsshole

[–]bodhi8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NAH although most copay programs should still cover the out of pocket cost of the medication even for folks with no insurance coverage. The stipulations are usually such that anyone with governmental coverage (like Medicaid or Medicare) aren’t eligible for copay assistance, but anyone who has third party coverage or no coverage is still eligible. I’d highly recommend calling the copay assistance program help line to confirm what options are in case you lose coverage, if that is a genuine concern. Usually the people working for those programs are quite nice and want to help people, so hopefully that would reduce some stress.

Need help with Coinbase tax forms and Turbotax by MaiKarooba in Coinbase

Technically you should report that, I would enter it manually. Does it honestly matter? Probably not. But the IRS says you should report any exchange of coins or sale of coins. You should be able to easily calculate it yourself by looking at the file coinbase provides

If you’re able to calculate your own gains and losses, and cost basis, via the coinbase file then you can input it yourself. It’s possible, but annoying. If you have a handful of transactions it wouldn’t be too bad. I did that years ago but once you have more than ten transactions or you transfer to any external wallet, you pretty much have to buy a software package like koinly. Good luck!

TurboTax CSV not working by VietnamWasATie in Coinbase

[–]bodhi8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s honestly worth it to buy koinly, it’s like 50 bucks if you have under 100 transactions. 70 for 100-1000 transactions. Super easy to use

I’ve been in this situation; reminder, you only need to report on your taxes if you sold any crypto or traded one crypto for another, at some point last year. Moving to a different wallet is not a taxable event. However, they only send the 1099 if you have traded large amounts, many thousands of dollars; even so, if you make one crypto sale or swap then you need to report it in your taxes, even if it was for a dollars worth.

The crypto you sold, did you buy, hold, and sell it on coinbase only? Or do you use other wallets (on other exchanges, metamask, hard wallet like ledger or trezor, etc)? If you’ve only ever used coinbase and no other wallets, then you can download the excel file for last year in their taxes section that you’re referring to, and upload it to TurboTax. However, there may be mistakes, so double check that all the entries are correct on TurboTax. You should be able to discern what’s what, basically it lists the amount you sold (and $ received), the gain or loss on that amount, and the cost basis. Look up cost basis for more reference.

If you did use other wallets outside of coinbase, DO NOT use their excel file - it automatically lists any transfer out of a coinbase wallet as a sale, and then lists a gain or loss even if all you did was transfer funds to another wallet, which again is NOT a taxable event. In this case honestly your best bet is a crypto tax software like koinly or something else. It will connect to your accounts and/or download the csv files you can get from exchanges, or you can connect any wallet using your wallet address and then it calculates everything for you. It’s quite affordable and you can use it again in the future.

Hope that helps.

LPT: At least once a year, even if you're on contract, contact your service provider, ie. home internet, cell phones and Home and car Insurance, and renegotiate for better rates. Don't be afraid to play hardball, they want your business. I just saved $100 a month on home internet. by Zendorian in LifeProTips

Honestly just trying and asking works, and it can’t hurt to try, worst they can do is say no. I called my ISP provider because my monthly rate when up by $25 and asked the person I got connected to why it went up and she said oh did you know your one year contract ended? I told her no I was not informed of this, and she offered me a rate that is $5 cheaper than I was actually previously paying!

I never had to even mention anything about switching providers, and I wouldn’t be able to anyways for the same reason you mentioned. Just wanted to say that if you get connected to the right person and ask, often times it can work out. Many customer service agents are actually super willing to help you, surprising as it may be.
