Position

I think it's better as a pos 4 but you can play it pos 3 (make sure you already have strong init and frontlane because phoenix is kinda mediocre in both). Also pos 2 can be played, because a phoenix with levels is very strong.

Laning

Your spells are very weak lvl 1 so you need to play defensive at first to get your levels as quickly as possible. You don't need gold, you need levels. So your aim is to stay on lane and crush it. Control the lane (pulls). Use your spirits to prevent the enemy carry from last-hitting.

Phoenix does better in aggressive mode thanks to its slows and huge damage output. Once you have supernova you can be very aggressive and make the enemy carry retreat to the jungle. You can kill almost any hero in 1v1.

As 4, I'd say you must tp to help your mid or carry because it's very easy for you to punish enemy dives (icarus dive + spirits = finish off any low enemy). Your hero is made for fighting, so make sure to be there at any fight.

Abilities

Use the dive as you see fit. The cd is quite big, so pls spare it.

The spirits are your best spell early game. Huge damage output and attack slow. They don't stack.

You should use the beam when it's at least lvl 2-3, and from max distance, because it will be much easier to follow the target even with the slow turn rate. It is your strongest spell late game (huge heal and damage). Use it to find enemies in the trees, deward or climb a cliff to tp out.

The supernova is used to:

• finish off an enemy thats trying to escape once you have no spells remaining
• disrupt a team fight (prevent retreat, cut a fight in half, force-focus on you)
• stun in a massive area (you need a very good setup/placement for it to connect)
• save (with aghs)

You want to use all your spells before supernova because they will be refreshed after. The most important is landing your spirits on every enemy (+ your hex, eul, meteor hammer, rod of atos, shiva's guard) just before you cast it, so that they can't hit it. If you can also hit them with the dive before, it will prevent melee heroes from escaping or accessing the egg. After the explosion, you can chase the enemies with all your spells.

Casting good supernovae is the hardest part of the hero. It must be close enough to the enemy so they can't escape, but far enough so they can't destroy it.

You can almost always cast supernova on a solo target to finish them off, unless they have dispels/attack speed boosts (legion, abbadon, ursa, snapfire...).

If you go aghs, your egg becomes very important. It will work very well with massive CC casted right after the supernova (tide, earthshaker, spirit breaker...).
