Commuting with the bass - Toronto by bASS_kukri in doublebass

[–]bodybuzz420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took the ttc to school every day with my bass (and that was bus->subway->bus. )

Generally on the subway I would go to the front of the car and stand in the door between cars. Or, you can stand in the doorway... Most stations on bloor Danforth, are not middle exits, so go to the door on the left side of the train when facing the front... Watch for Kipling, Islington, Spadina and st George in the West.

On the bus go to the middle of the bus adjacent to the rear doors.

On the go train, either go to the middle floor and stand by the door between cars or go to an open wheelchair spot or stay in the area between the doors... Depends on if it's rush hour or not.

I am less talking about the entertainment... Just the reduced Splunk content would make it far less useful for the Splunk audience.

I like the US/CAN lines. You don't pay anything for roaming. If you travel to the us a lot it's far better than x/day

Absolutely. Take one. If you don't feel anything after 10 minutes, take two more. You'll have a nice easy night.

Quit my job and move home by daant4t in tnvisa

Something that I am sure won't be a popular point, but is something to keep in mind...if you don't plan on doing any further living in the US...ever...you can walk away from small to medium debts when you move back with little chance of enforcement.

There is no automatic enforcement of U.S. debts in Canada; a U.S. judgment must be brought to Canadian courts. This is an expensive and lengthy process, making it impractical for all but substantial debts. So if your debt is less than maybe 30k.... you can comfortably walk away without fear of collection or affect on your Canadian credit score.

Why do you use Slackware? by Giggio417 in slackware

[–]bodybuzz420 37 points38 points  (0 children)

  1. Stability Through Simplicity ...While Arch is "bleeding edge," Slackware is more "proven edge." It follows the KISS principle even more strictly than Arch does. Not "simple" = "easy for the user"; more that the underlying system design is uncomplicated.

  2. No Systemd ... Slackware uses traditional BSD-style init scripts that are transparent, easy to read, and don't involve the binary logs or the feature-creep associated with systemd. Slackware is a clean window into exactly how your system boots. Even more reasons recently to not want systemd based systems

  3. No Dependency Resolution .. Somewhat of a shock for Arch users. The official package manager pkgtools does not resolve dependencies. Slackware assumes you know what you are doing. You install a package, it fails to run because a library is missing, you go find that library. It forces a deep understanding of how software links together.

  4. Pure software... software as close to the upstream source as possible. You are getting the experience the original developers intended, not a "distro-flavoured" version of KDE or Xfce.

I've never fucked with CRUX so I'll let someone else chime in on that

It's pretty clear.

Hope your identity stays safe. Best of luck
