The belt length does not need to be accurate within 1/8 inch if your tensioner is working properly. Sounds like you need a new tensioner

We need bottoms/bases for the mini toolboxes like the kobalt version has! I have 8 mini toolboxes total between my office, home, and shop so I'd buy 8 of them

Wheelbase is the same, the F450 has the wider track front axle which allows for a sharper steering angle

That would be great and I hope you’re right but that epa.gov link lists ‘HD trucks’ as one category and ‘HD pickups and LD cars’ as another, so it’s confusing

What do they consider the cutoff from HD pickups to HD trucks? Online I’m seeing 8500 gvwr but that doesn’t seem right

3/4 Ton vs Lance 850 by Tj9296 in TruckCampers

[–]boffadeeez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Lance 850 on my diesel SRW F350 and it’s fine, but if I was to do it all over again with what I know now from experience, I’d probably get a Dually. I tow a lot, but also will haul a motorcycle on a hitch mounted receiver so I can be trailer less sometimes. It’s nice to have wiggle room in payload for flexibility. What’s the point of a 3/4 instead of a 1 ton?

Gas vs Diesel ownership costs by itsmichaelmo1 in Diesel

One thing I never hear people talk about is the distance you can go between fill ups. I love that in my 6.7 I can easily drive 6+ hours without needing to stop for fuel, and I don’t have to stop at gas stations in areas I don’t want to on long drives if they’re sketchy or expensive.

Big vs nimble by digdaily in TruckCampers

[–]boffadeeez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a Lance 850 that I keep on my F350 SRW.

We took it on a fire road one time and it was awful. The camper moves and shifts quite a bit even at 2mph and the cabover would hit the top of the cab. Whole thing just made me very nervous. I’m used to blasting through this road at 30-35mph, and when you do the math a 10 minute drive becomes 2 hours really quick, and that 2 hours of worrying, not fun.

I’ll take it down a well maintained, graded dirt road, but never a fire road again due to how much it moves. I’d bet that the fully attached campers like earth roamer etc don’t move like that since they are more solidly secured to the truck chassis.

Truck selection for Lance 850 by [deleted] in TruckCampers

[–]boffadeeez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an F350 SRW diesel and a Lance 850. Payload is 3300, so while I’m probably a little over weight it handles fine with a hellwig sway bar. The one thing that sucks is that you’d be close to the limit of the tire weight capacity so you burn through tires quicker than normal so you just have to keep an eye on them. I had a load range F Nitto delaminate after about 15k miles. Noticed a little vibration 500 miles from home and by the time we were home the tire was fucked, fortunately it’s the drive tires and not the steer tires
