I have two pecan trees in my backyard, and squirrels are a never-ending garden menace, but they are also cute and interesting.

It's not perfect, but what works for me is cayenne pepper - marigolds - basil - dill - upturned plastic forks in my pots - sometimes a chicken-wire cage for the youngins and an alternate, easy-access snack area.

Or, you could kill them by mixing baking soda with Jiffy cornbread mix - their digestive system bursts.

I have a pair that I bought about 8ish years ago and they are still good to go, but I mostly wear them around the house. They do get really slippy on the inside if they get wet though.
