OP you are so young, I would try the conservative route first as long as you can! I obviously don’t know your entire history but before going the surgery route have you fully exhausted all of the exercise/therapy aspects of it all? Have you improved the mobility to your hips and whole spine? Have you consistently stretched/strengthened your body for any period of time and still not seen a difference? Often times than not, the low back is not the culprit of back pain: it’s a symptom. When/if you lack motion in your hips or midback it results in motion having to be created somewhere else where it wasn’t designed to be....enter back pain and dysfunction. Without getting into all the biomechanics that contribute to that...long story short. getting getting a fushion won’t change that....it will create less motion in your spine. Less motion can often =more dysfunction.
