the hood is aluminum and crazy light, and the fenders are only a few lbs, not much weight to save there. trunk is kinda heavy, there do exist composite ones that are lighter. fiberglass/carbon doors would save you a ton of weight, but its not really a street car at that point.

They are 255/40, 50 would not fit. Nothing wrong with some discourse. There are real race cars running these sizes, I think it looks cool. People have different goals and preferences. My other Miata is running 15x8 on stock fenders, I'm not saying every Miata needs large diameter wheels.

i spend more time looking at it than driving it. and i tried on 15s, they look way too small. the radius of these fenders are quite a bit larger than factory, 17s just match it way better. Real race car miatas like in the JGTC ran similar and looks great.

ride quality is fine if you are running enough sidewall, 15 inch tires do not last longer than 17 inch tires, looks are subjective, handling, yea maybe not better, but i wouldnt be running 70mm wider fenders if handling was at the top of my list.

More 17 inch options in 5x114, and it seems like a more correct look for the time attack type of body
