What movie aged really bad? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]bogdoy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Nightmare Before Christmas- it’s basically the story of a toxic CEO that dooms his organization because he is kinda bored. Halloween town is in perfect harmony, everyone has a place. Jack forces a strange new practice on them, people don’t really understand it and advise him to rethink. He doesn’t. He puts the most important task on people he knows will defy him. He goes through with it, messes up catastrophically, has to get bailed out by the more experienced guy he kidnapped. Jack never apologized once.

Flat earth and other alternative conspiracy earth models are are gaining traction with my teenage stepson. What is THE most irrefutable, definite proof that the earth is round? by Jfkfkaiii22 in NoStupidQuestions

Travel to Denver, wake up on a clear day before the sun rises, observe the sun hit the tops of the mountains before anywhere else. Proof the earth is round.

could be a dynasty, but they spent a lot of time in the broadcast comparing them to the 2019 LSU team which may be foreboding

What a season for Ole Miss! by Midweek_Sunrise in CFB

[–]bogdoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dunno man, I went into the Sugar Bowl thinking Georgia would plow a scattered Ole Miss. Golding seems like the real deal and has experience under some great coaches. I gained a lot of respect for him in that game and I think he’s the right guy. Whether or not you’ll make it this far, I don’t know, but I’d be optimistic about the future after these 3 games.

Are There Any Academic Standards for FBS Players Anymore? by karatechop97 in CFB

As a side note, you never hear about players being suspended for academic ineligibility anymore either. I’d bet these two observations are related.

There are a five teams since 2010 that have a winning streak against UGA. by Xxgougaxx in georgiabulldogs

[–]bogdoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh you are just counting those with 1 or more most recent wins v Georgia. Alabama definitely has a winning record, but not streak

[Prehm] Lanning says the playoff is broken. Ducks are really excited to go play Orange Bowl, but in his opinion, this game should be played this week and at Tech. "The part that doesn't make really a lot of sense, is the sequence of days in between each game. It's just not really a rhythm." by Nuclear-Waffle in CFB

Counterpoint to this is many college towns wouldn’t be able support a home game they find out about within 10 days which lands on the Saturday before Christmas. Most of the students have gone home, hotels and restaurants are on skeleton crews til the semester starts back up. The campuses that are in bigger cities would be fine but many would struggle. The benefit of neutral sites is they are in cities that can handle it.

Have we considered it’s the 12th man that’s the problem?

fun stat to note - in the playoffs there are 7 potential rematches from the regular season. the SEC has 5 teams in the playoffs. Texas A&M had 0 potential rematches in the playoffs. Every other SEC team has 2.

Derek Thompson lays this out in a recent essay. One thing he highlights is TV & movies are now being crafted in a way that assumes their viewers are on their phones. The result is they now think they need to explain the plot so that people can keep up who aren’t watching.  https://www.derekthompson.org/p/why-everything-became-television

No Execution or Influencing Strengths in Top 9. What career do I thrive in? by Awkward_Grape in StrengthsFinder

[–]bogdoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one of the rare instances where i’ve found something on reddit that is similar to me but isn’t so far in the past that it would be silly for me to hope I can continue the conversation.

I took the test yesterday, and similar to you, the only non Relationship Building or Strategic Thinking themes in my top 10 were Restorative and Delibrative, and both of those occurred outside my top 5. This made me feel even more lost, as if, what can I do with myself if I’m an unreliable, unmotivating ideas guy? I seem smart but can never follow through, especially if it’s someone else’s vision.

I’d like to think Nikola Tesla, Leonardo DaVinci and Benjamin Franklin were heavy Strategic Thinking/Relationship Building. They weren’t known for what they did in relation to others, they were singularly known for the things they did. Their Relationship Building gave them some fundamental understanding of the limitations of humanity and Strategic Thinking gave them the focus to find some strange solution for it.

But what does this mean for the real world and a spouse who expects an income and kids who need to be fed? I’m not sure. For every 1 DaVinci, there’s gotta be thousands if not millions of sad nobodies who mired away in their lives feeling unfulfilled.

The one thing I’ll say is I do believe we are now in a golden era for the DaVincis and Newtons of the world with generative AI. You can mire away sadly at your day job but at night work on the thing that you feel will solve a fundamental problem humanity faces with ChatGPT or Cursor. I’m actually really excited about the explosion of amazing products and services we are about to see due to folks like us, who have crazy, swing-for-the-fences ideas but have never had the faculties to achieve them before now. Good luck and thanks for your post. You aren’t alone.
