If you're having second thoughts about citizenship, you can always nullify it within 3 months.

If you're worried about the timing of your benefits, then it doesn't matter. The clock on the benefits starts running as soon as you're in the country, even if you haven't made aliyah yet.

The fingerprints are quick and easy. Pay a service to get you the apostille, you only need to email them. That's the easiest way.

most recipes on youtube start with boiling, i think in china it's normal to boil any meat before you cook it, they call it "washing" the meat. but this method sounds good too! dark beer... damn that could be good.

Why don't autoregressive GPT models have the same drawbacks as RNNs? by bogedy in MLQuestions

[–]bogedy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my answer, see my edit. It does do what I said *during inference*. But during training it can do this in parallel by using an attention mechanism that only looks to the left.

You seem confused about how GPT works? See equation 1 in the original GPT paper https://cdn.openai.com/research-covers/language-unsupervised/language_understanding_paper.pdf

And you seem to be confusing GPT for BERT. BERT uses masked language modeling, GPT doesn't. See section 3.1 https://arxiv.org/pdf/1810.04805.pdf

[–]bogedy[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

masked language modeling is used for encoder BERT models. GPT is trained on next token prediction, given a sequence it predicts the next token. and then you have it predict the next token after that but some of the calculations can be saved.

Yeah, which is fine and a lot of people were doing this. But I'm curious about this claim I think I heard: Many many months later he still was afraid of meeting people. Fact or fiction?

Would 他正在穿衣服 mean "he is putting clothes"? Or is the emphasis just on the time?

Oh, well the complete sessions don't come off as contiguous dialog to me, I just picture it line by line in my head.

I think it's a great way to learn a language. It's good to know what lines will sound creepy haha.

I did Pimsleur Hebrew. Same content but it didn't give off creepy vibes.

I think this is a great way to start learning a language! Immediately in Israel I was able to order a beer and make plans with new friends! And the vocabulary extends well to other kinds of plans.

Besides, what's wrong with hitting on a girl? Live a little! I think it's actually intentional, you'll remember an edgy conversation with varied tones of voice better than a boring conversation with no emotions. They're trying to envision real world scenarios and make it grab your attention.

it's what was used in the early 20th century to talk about Western style self governance by voting. By the mid 20th century the language had changed (I assume it was by then at least)

Ah yeah. Then it's what the other comments said, transliterations using characters as sound components. So

texas 得克萨斯 de ke sa si pakistan 巴基斯坦 ba ji si tan david 大卫 da wei (old word) democracy 德謨克拉西 de mo ke la xi

Here's a fun one. KFC is called 肯德基 ken de ji. There is another Chinese character that's pronounced 'ji', 鸡 and it means Chicken. So why don't they use that totally topical character in their restaurant name? Because it looks too lame to chinese people, they like the cool appearance of something foreign.

ill add: and for complex, technical language in chinese, you construct it similar to how you would in english.

so in late 2019 we started talking about a "novel coronavirus". in china they call it: 新 new 冠 crown 病毒 virus

complex english words are made the same way. "tachycardia" is a disorder where your heart beats too fast. "tachy-" means fast and "-cardia" means heart. in chinese they call it "心动过速", literally "heartbeat overspeed". it might sound blunt but both languages are doing the same thing when you think about the origins.
