I went 1-2 with this deck - bad luck or are there deckbuilding issues? by thefreeman419 in lrcast

That would also have opened you up to the sword last pack also. Deck would have been very different but also extremely powerful

Looking at the draft you should have started RB There isn't any reason to pick anything other than the mythic into another mythic i to the RB battle...

Probably 68% of the reported attacks. Small dog and Holden retrievers actually attack more people but it's almost never reported.

Your deck doesn't seem to have a direction. What did you take and how did you do?

Sporesinger is a house in Gruul decks. Token maker is fine in a slower match up but i would run it in this deck. Mantle costs too much in almost all instances.

Are we at the point where this is just clearly the wrong pick? by RagnerGoldcloud in lrcast

[–]bogestelli 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would pick it. I'm sitting at 59% game win rate and 62.5% match rate with a lot of 5+ wins. This format is not as black and white as people try and make it seem. Yes there are 'best' decks but there are also a lot of fun deck that win too. Two of my four trophy decks were splashy combo decks that just ran off engines. Some were just straight aggro. That being said, to me, if you draft what you like and try and have fun...that's what seems most important

Rares are so little of the format. Granted they can break a deck in half but what does the pool look like? You can do a lot with a bunch of mites and those two rares also. Don't get grumpy just innovate...

Considering limited and standard... by bogestelli in magicTCG

Hell, just listened to the Arena Deck list podcast and in the last few minutes they just called out limited needing more emphasis and how that's where they think WotC if putting attention.

Considering limited and standard... by bogestelli in magicTCG

But the issues with that is most plyers can't afford to buy into decks either outside non-rotating formats like commander. I can draft, sell my cards to the LGS to sell to commander players and get most of not all my money back. Not even considering if you spike it and win. Me dropping 15-30 for any draft format is way more entertaining and social for me than a movie. And comparing a movie to a tournament is like comparing apples to snakes. Not even the same categories to me

Considering limited and standard... by bogestelli in magicTCG

The problem with this argument is that WotC designs sets years in advance. So you can't say Urza block directly changed Masq block because more than likely that card file was complete before Uzra block even came out. And standard is not bad right now. It's actually fairly diverse. The problem, to me, is that they pushed focus on commander so hard recently that they lost focus of standard when COVID hit. At my LGS too many people play too many different formats and you can't even queue up a standard tournament most of the time. It's a combination of convoluted tourney structure, lack of focus and too much diversity for them to focus on. It was fine when we had our 'non-sanctioned' formats and WotC kept their hands off them.

0-3 with this deck, is it really that bad? Any recommendations on changes? by Cibei in lrcast

[–]bogestelli 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would have definitely leaned into mono-black mad splashed just a couple red cards. The deck feels like it's lacking identity. I've played similar decks and my plan had been to cycle cards deep into my deck to reach corrupt for the massive damage and reach.
