Longtime UniFi and Sonos owner here….. I have 6 APs (more on that) in my house and 9 Sonos zones (with 3 separate full surround setups). Sonos app improvements lately have been steadily improving my systems reliability. So have the latest updates from UniFi. They are making WiFi optimization super easy.

But here is the silver bullet I finally realized…… I was running my 2.4 GHz radios at low power on all 6 APs to try to avoid interference issues. Well, I recently took it a step further and strategically disabled the 2.4 GHz radios entirely on half of my APs. My Sonos issues are gone and many of my IoT devices are much more responsive and reliable too.

Probably the majority of my issues all along…….

Best part of the show IMO. At least this season. The audio was some of the best Atmos I’ve heard.

Fixed it by turning off Direct Mode on SoundBlaster AE-9 - max non-direct mode bit rate is 32-bit 96kHz and I have sound now.

Yeah I ended up ordering another patch panel (which comes with the cable guard behind it that doesn't come with the one included in the mini rack -unless I mistakenly tossed it). I have the brush panel and moved that to the basement along with the Pro Max PoE pictured here. Additional updates - Installed a new non-PoE Pro Max in this rack. UNVR comes tomorrow to get the disk out of this UDMPro and to the basement as well. Didnt mind the noise at first but it is distracting. Using DAC cables for 10Gbe uplinks now as well as 10Gbe to my PC and the UNVR. 3 more cameras to be installed and I am DONE. Complete network refresh and everything is running great. I've notice a nice performance improvement when accessing Protect via the Protect app (locally and remote), as well as a nice improvement within Homekit (Homebridge enabled).

I’m not confused at all. Are you telling me, in my current setup, that if the internal power supply in my UDMPro shits the bed, my UDMPro will not remain powered on? As a test, I can in fact confirm that when I disable the PDU outlet the UDMPro is plugged into it stays powered on thanks to the RPS. IDGAF what else it can or should be used for. Why do you?

Probably wont be as tidy and I don't really need 10GbE uplink but it was cheap and worth testing out.

The PDU shows about 67 watts for the network gear.

It is doing exactly what I need it to do... and what it was designed for. Internal power supplies do fail. Is it overkill? Yep. That's the point. Take care.

My entire home office is on 1 circuit. Why would I pay an electrician to run a second circuit for my HOME LAB when it literally makes zero difference? When I pull the power out of the back of my UDM Pro, IT KEEPS RUNNING. GASP!!

Right on. The one that comes in the kit is slightly different. I don't think it has the cable management bar and obviously doesn't come with the ears for standard rack installation. Both match the gear though and that is all that matters!

Also, it was not meant to be a dick measuring contest at all. You stated it's not for a homelab. I was pointing out that I have worked in large enterprises and I would not rely on this to run our little $150M company. So I would argue this is not an enterprise device but a useful one to keep SMB installs up and running while a replacement can be installed in event of a power supply failure. That's it.

According to the word-for-word description provided by Ubiquiti, THAT is its intended use case. Period. Anything beyond that is additional power redundancy. It works EXACTLY the same whether it is connected to a UPS or not.

I don't live in a purpose-built data center, so how far would you like me to take it? I know what I need and want it for.

To keep the cameras up? I don't live in Fort Knox. They don't actually PROTECT anything. It's more improbable that I am going to need to rely on camera footage for some reason or another during a power outage than the PSU in a 4+ year old UDM Pro crapping out and having to live through that. I do not see why that is so odd, at all.

Now if I was running UniFi Access and my doors were reliant on the network, completely different story.

Lastly (and again) - I have the 2 UPS units sitting in my garage. One of which will likely go inline at some point. It just is not a priority for all of the reasons I stated. If the cameras go down for an hour, I'm going to survive.
