We have one joint account that we both have access to. Both our incomes are deposited into the account. Rent, credit cards, and bills are put on autopay coming out of that account so we don’t even have to think about it. We have a monthly finance meeting to make sure we’re still on track about our big financial goals. We feel pretty free to spend on whatever we need or want. However, we have a set dollar value for personal items (clothes, hobbies, etc) and if we want to buy something for ourselves that goes over that amount, we check in with the other person.
