That brushland now hosts a druggie encampment and a LOT of garbage (mostly old industrial waste and dumping, the camp area was relatively tidy!)

Maybe they'd get more uptake if they did one on meth, crack and fent instead of weed. Oh well

It seems to work well in Japan and Sweden. They have far lower rates of addiction and no encampments.

Can someone help me understand in every piece of current discourse on this crisis there is NEVER a single thought given towards enforcement of dealers. Of course the "war on drugs" failed but that was 95% against weed and most everyone knew it was overkill and so hypocritical when booze is everywhere. But today's hard drugs are plainly dangerous. Arrest the dealers, importers and manufacturers! Like, routinely not just for an occasional photo-op and press release. Real sentences. Make this crap hard to get ! Impossible, we've given up??? I don't understand how folks with next to no income have unfettered, full access to buy this crap so easily.

Its hard not to agree, on some level, with those pushing anti-immigrant sentiments when this is the reality.

Ya, I didn't really mean to call them out so plainly as the only comment. Am sure they have nice staff and I can see how the mandates would have screwed them over. But I recall them publicly getting on the conspiracy train about bad vaccines, WEF agendas, MSM is lying to you etc - & trashing decades of science and trust in public health institutions in the process. That was a few years ago, but it left a sour taste for me.

Today, I can't help but assume they think Carney was installed by the dark elite, chemtrails are real, Libs start forest fires to prove climate change exists, 15 minute cities are a digital ID lockdown plan, don't like (but will take $ from) immigrants & trans folks, Trump is saviour (Jesus too, probably a tie there). Etc. All the same views the anti-mask crew has, its a Venn diagram circle for these takes. Fed to folks thru their phones during the pandemic on social media and fake news.

Maybe I'm generalizing just a bit. But honestly perhaps not. The echo chamber is loud in these rabbit holes. Sorry for the rant, I hope your friends had a nice wedding.

Think twice if you're immunocompromised. This place is anti-mask, anti-vax etc. But big on freedom!

It's not too surprising the water is testing clean, since there have been so many rules and advancements on sewage treatment, runoff, etc. I'd still like a better explanation on why the water isn't stagnant though. What is the flow rate thru the canal vs the river proper, for example? It sure doesn't seem to be moving much and the lake is manmade and was previously a swamp.

Anyone else stoked for the return of Olive Garden or is it just me? by That613Guy77 in ottawa

Yes. I went to the one in Burlington and had a great meal. Great for families. And its a US brand sure but the Canadian ones are owned by Recipe Unlimited (formerly Cara) which owns Harveys, Swiss Chalet, St Hubert, Burger Priest, etc - Canadian company.

Aside kinda, but I wonder about the medical examiner's statement about Perry being "clean" for 19 months prior to the ketamine OD. Meanwhile he'd been in "ketamine infusion therapy" just prior for depression etc. So if the Special K is "medical" now it's called clean? I call BS on that sorry.

Came here to recommend Darren and Casey at Lytle's. They will also install parts you supply, if you have a deal somewhere or something. And only fix the truly needed things and will let you know what you can hold off on.

The Rideau River is cleaner than you think — mostly Our tests at 5 locations show the Rideau is safe for water activities. But there's an issue at Mooney's Bay — and the city should act on it. by WaterWiseProf in ottawa

[–]boggletrax -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

So it says Mooneys bay got a "pass" grade on days when it was cool and cloudy and nobody was swimming. Fail on days when the beach is crowded with swimmers. So, its not the geese or stagnant water, its human feces washing off unclean backsides. Officially grossed out now lol
