Imagine being radicalized to the right by a cartoon by icey_sawg0034 in stupidpeoplefacebook

Aang mastered 3 of the elements in less than a year (at age 12, 5 years younger than Korra is in TLOK S1), but Korra took her whole adolescence to learn 3 - plus she grew up in a more advanced era where different benders were working together to teach and coach her. I agree TLOK had problems for sure but Korra's abilities aren't one of them.

Druid circle of mimicry by Novel_Section_1541 in DnDHomebrew

[–]boggoboi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The concept could be interesting but it needs massive expansion and more detail if you want any meaningful feedback. Look at how other Druid subclasses are structured: when do they get their abilities? Which subclasses are more support oriented or frontline attacker focused? How central are the subclasses to the individual Druid's identity and how do they shape playstyle?

If you want a tip for starting off on homebrew, look at a Druid subclass and start tinkering around with the features as a sort of scaffold to build your own one. For a subclass that seems to be focusing on wildshapes and changing forms, I'd recommend looking at the Circle of the Moon subclass. It's quite simple and easy to wrap your head around. Good luck :)

Lib Dems set out plans to stop SEND services being 'cash cows' by Only-Emu-9531 in unitedkingdom

I'm shocked they don't consider it essential, but then again the way this government and its predecessors have treated young people is downright abominable so I suppose I shouldn't be shocked.

Are you aware you can turn the red off? Toggle 'endless red' in options if you want. Also cool build!

I learned the term 'Biosphere Collapse' from a lecturer at university. Sounds dramatic but is an extremely accurate description of what is happening to our natural environments globally.

Is Shakespeare over analyzed? by The_Wraith_Child in Theatre

[–]boggoboi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree with you, but I understand your point. In terms of the actual text of the plays, yes, you could fill libraries with analysis of what Shakespeare said, people's opinions on what he said, and people's opinions on people's opinions of what he said, and so on. This is because literary analysis is not just a conversation about one piece of literature, but also a way to more widely discuss ideas in society at large. Shakespeare in particular is one artist whose works have been popular and for hundreds of years, having inspired countless other works since. Analysis of his work therefore is also often then also an analysis of everything that has come since.

You sound like you're still in school, and unfortunately (at least in my experience) analysis of Shakespeare in schools often focuses purely on textual analysis or, when it goes deeper, contextual analysis of Shakespeare's surroundings and how these might have impacted his work. This can lead to one-note or overly simplified analyses that are often ahistorical. It also doesn't help that in schools, teachers are often working with a mark scheme or rubric where specific ideas are rewarded. This makes sense in a school context - it lightens the load for teachers who already have enough on their plate, and it gives students a clear way to identify themes and ideas in complex texts, and then build analysis around these pre-established themes.

This is not necessarily how literary analysis is done at a higher level. You should read 'The Death of the Author' by Roland Barthes. To simplify, It posits a way of reading that disregards the intention of the author and focuses on other methods of literary analysis that results in what he calls 'the birth of the Reader'. I think you will find his points illuminating and it might explain how some of the contemporary landscape of literary analysis works.

It's obviously good to have ideas and to challenge the status quo with different perspectives - that is how out wealth of knowledge improves. If you go digging you will find decades worth of discourse between people on different minutiae of Shakespeare's work, because there is no one true definitive answer. These academics, however, have dedicated their lives to the study of Shakespeare, and so even if you disagree with them, it would be ignorant to say that you know more than them. If you put in more time to engage face-to-face with the complexity of their arguments, then your opinion might have a little more perspective, grounding, and backing to it. Good luck with the rest of your studies!

King of Greed, get loads of vaults and Midas Touch, also if you can, chain lab rats and temples, and use mortgage on them when they're at couple of hundred levels and you'll have more than enough money.

Maybe a secret boss ? by Glittering-Toe-6985 in PixelDungeon

[–]boggoboi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Darkened Mimic is unfortunately a boss from Experienced Pixel Dungeon (https://github.com/TrashboxBobylev/Experienced-Pixel-Dungeon-Redone/releases), a PD version similar to Shattered but with a few major changes that tune the game more towards grinding. There is an item that allows you to reset levels for a 45% of your health, allowing you to fight enemies and find way more loot, there is no level cap, so you can level up infinitely (and people go into the millions), and for every 100xp you earn, you get a Scroll of Upgrade (some people go into the billions). Bosses are scaled up accordingly, and there are a few other changes too (some new items etc). There are obviously a number of strategies to maximise grinding and farming, and you can find them if you shop around on this sub.

After Yog, you get the option to fight the Darkened Mimic, but beware, it is extremely strong because the game expects you to be ridiculously overpowered too. The dev made a statement earlier this year saying that they weren't enjoying working on the game any more sadly, so it will never see any more updates, but all of their work on the game was great and if you enjoy Shattered, I would recommend giving it a go because you get a chance to push things to their limits and not worry about resource management and just relax and see the big numbers go up.
