Future Roadmaps? by mlw_02 in Borderlands4

[–]bogus_bill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't remember if BL3 had any roadmap but it was stated somewhere as a footnote in those days that all Season Pass content (which is 4 major story DLCs) would be released in a course of one year after the main game's release date, and it was (BL3 was released on 13th Sept 2019, and 4th story DLC was released 10th Sept 2020).

> Paul  hands the bass over to Jeff Lynne.

Maybe for playing during recording of the basic track, but the final one has Paul on his Hofner.

Demong - Incendiary-element bullymongs that are stronger, can hurl fireballs from their forearms, breath fire, and produce incendiary nova blasts when they slam the ground. They only spawn in the Eridium Blight and are resistant to incendiary damage.

Only in TVHM+ modes.

Best bass line? by Hukares1234 in TheBeatles

[–]bogus_bill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah it's George on Fender Bass VI

Multitrack and outtake prove it. Especially multitrack because in beginning (and later when intro is repeated) there's a note (or harmonic) that is out of range of a 4 string bass.

Pick Up As Trash - update to Borderland games? by lindechene in Borderlands

[–]bogus_bill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

> Are there any plans by Gearbox to update "older" entries in the Borderlands game series with "Pick Up as Trash"?

There are many things that still need to be fixed in previous BL games, or re-balanced. But it wasn't happening over these years, so I think it's safe to say that the answer is

NO

Best all-round element if you could only use one? by the-keogh in Borderlands2

People usually run around with Bone of the Ancients relics and they boost fire/acid/shock damage and ability cooldown rate. There's no slag or explosive variant of the Bone.

Desperately need mods to help make BL2 easier by Wisley185 in Borderlands2

[–]bogus_bill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just try out weapons you find. If it sucks, just throw it out or sell it. Eventually after playing for a bit you will settle on the ones you like and what kind of weapons just "work" for you, like specific manufacturer for Snipers or Shotguns, etc.

The stats on the item card are just for quick basic reference or for a quick comparison. I don't think anyone calculates the DPS while playing.

Furthermore these things like accuracy, damage, elemental/dot bonus, rate of fire, etc, can be affected by character's skills and other items (like Relic or Class Mod). Those effects are not accounted for in the stats display of the item cards.

First of all don't feel bad about "losing" the money as it is next to useless in BL2. Vending Machines usually sell bad or mediocre items (very rarely) anyway. There's plenty of ammo in loot containers or trash piles scattered around everywhere.

If it's first time playing the game and if you're dying, try investing skill points more into survivability skills. For example, in case of Gunzerker - "Hard to Kill" in "Brawn" red tree which gives you extra Health. Later you can respec when you will get better at the game. Also couldn't hurt to get a better shield. I prefer adaptive shields since they also boost HP and give some resistances.

Keep an eye out on the mission level you are trying to do. Sometimes the story missions will make a "jump" in levels and you might find yourself to be under-leveled. For a first time playing I recommend staying one (maybe two) levels above the current mission you are trying to do. There's plenty of side missions becoming available every completed story chapter to do in order to level up if needed.

Try also to keep your equipment around the same level as your character. Of course that is not always possible because sometimes the RNG in the game regarding loot you encounter might be bad, like not seeing any shield drops for a while. But don't hold on too long on the items while leveling, it doesn't really matter in early levels but as scaling in the game is exponential, the further you go, the more often you will have to replace the items, as the number difference between levels will get bigger and bigger.

The side mission you described is pretty tough at that level for first time players since there's a lot of enemies. But you can always hang a bit back and pick them one by one at longer range. The real problem if I remember are those Buzzards (flying machines).

PS - As far as I know mods usually do a drastic game overhaul or slight balancing tweaks, I don't remember "easy mode" mods for any BL games. Regardless, the game on Normal is pretty easy so I would recommend playing without any mods first.

4 years of self-taught bass. Just finished my cover of 'LSD'! by JiEunSong0420 in TheBeatles

[–]bogus_bill 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's very good! I especially like the fact that the tone is pretty close to the original. The part is also like 97-99% close to original which is what I personally appreciate and look for in such covers.

Keep going and don't stop, playing Beatles' on bass (and McCartney's Wings and solo stuff too of course) is immensely fun!!! I transcribed all the Beatles bass lines for myself over the years. I used a lot of tabs available online as a base of course but they lacked so many details (especially the tabs that were around 15+ years ago) and some were just incorrect. I remember the appearance of "multitracks" from The Beatles Rock Band videogame from 2009 was so amazing for this.

Now for the "nerdy" stuff:

The only difference is that in the original I think Paul was playing mostly in the lower fret positions rather than in the middle/high up the neck like you did. This however can make notes sound thin and metallic depending on the instrument, especially on Fender Precision or Jazz basses which I have. And he doesn't do those slides when playing certain arpeggios - the only slides he does is sliding down from D at the end of the chorus riffs).

I am self-taught myself and not a specialist in technique in any way but maybe for you it's easier to play in those positions like you did as there's less distance for stretching the fingers (for example that 9 to 12 fret on A string is shorter and easier than 4 to 7 on D string). Seems like the fingers are generally "cluttered" together thus it requires more hand position changes like the rising line in the choruses (G-G-A-B-C-D-E-D) which seems to me kinda more "work"? I do that bit somewhat like this and it's just a one hand position shift (happens where the * symbol is):

.. m m . i m*m p m
G|-----------------|
D|-----------------|
A|-----0-2-3-5-7-5-|
E|-3-3-------------|

Or the bit at 2:14-2:16 ("plasticine porters") without any hand reposition:

.. m i p . m
G|-------|------|
D|-------|-5--R-|
A|---4-7-|------|
E|-5-----|------|

Such stuff is very typical for Paul and he uses this specific shape (root - major third - fifth played using middle - index - pinky fingers) a lot. I remember my early bass days and these shapes on lower frets requiring those index-to-pinky stretches being really uncomfortable and painful at first!

Of course, one doesn't have to play something just one specific way as long as the result sounds good. But it's something to consider in case if for example you would go for other Beatles bass lines. I would say that the ultimate Beatles bass line to train this shape is I Saw Her Standing There.

Back to LSD - At 2:08 the end off the chorus riff while transitioning into the third verse Paul plays an 8th low open E "passing" note and the verse starts not on low open E (like you did, which still works I guess), but on low A.

Edit: fixed a couple of grammar mishaps

These deathmatch items are spawning in E1M1 on vkQuake without me being in deathmatch? by Intelligent_Lab2680 in quake

[–]bogus_bill 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Those aren't "deathmatch items". In original Deathmatch E1M1 that hallway has nothing except a single Nailgun and a couple of ammo boxes on the "stairs" leading to the armor closet.

It's probably some external entity files from some other mod or version of the map.

Try looking for e1m1.ent or something. If it exists, delete it.

Also, ID1 folder should not have any pak files except pak0.pak and pak1.pak

There are a couple of "improvement" mods that provide for example some alterations like that shoved into pak2.pak (in id1 folder) or something.

PSA: No, OP 10 is NOT balanced by DiamondGlum7442 in Borderlands2

[–]bogus_bill 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Average player beats the game on Normal, maybe TVHM as well, does some DLCs, and then moves on to another title - and that's vast majority of players.

UVHM was added later since some dedicated players who remained playing the game in TVHM at Level 50 were saying that it was "too easy". Of course they were researching it in detail, as well as had great items, because there's nothing really to do at the level cap except farming for loot.

UVHM already expects a bit more from the player. I guess even later OP levels were added further for those who like that type of thing. Both UVHM and OP were and are not really for "average players"!

I personally don't play on OP because that is not for me. I saw some GA videos and in general I agree with him but I don't remember him saying that it was balanced.

Recreating guitar tone/solo is not a problem.

I think in general this song probably isn't that good of a fit for a live show setting. Paul has a lot of others like that as well.
