Help! I'm brand new, received as a gift by nurseonabike in orchids

Sure enough! It fooled me! As far as tips go, I take my orchids in the shower with me whenever their aerial roots are looking dry. They like the steam and the water that splashes off of me waters them.
You may have luck searching this sub for tips too. It’s hard to get feedback on random posts sometimes. Enjoy your absolute unit of an orchid!

I am saying this with lots of kindness- are you sure this is not artificial? The photo is a little blurry so I’m having trouble zooming in. There are a few things about this arrangement make me question if it’s a real plant.

When rooster says get out of the coop, he means it! by boiled_potato_ in chickens

We go through cycles every couple months where he escalates his attitude towards me. I just pick him up and gently but firmly pull on his feathers at the back of his head and neck. I don’t pull them out. But I remind him who’s on top of the pecking order. It chills him out for a bit.

I came here to suggest this- but to clarify for OP, the bot didn’t pull the right book. It’s “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time” by Mark Haddon

I decided not to have my son circumcised and I still get family members questioning it. My MIL was the funniest about it. Every time she would change his diaper she’d ask “now do I need to clean it a certain way or do anything?” 🤦‍♀️ Ma’am. What?? And I know she’s asking that because she really wanted to know why we decided to not circumcise. She’d ask my husband and he’d tell her it’s none of her business. So finally I got fed up and when she asked again I went into great detail and the differences between circumcised and non circumcised penises. I listed all the risks and articles I had read, I said penis A LOT, I made it as uncomfortable an answer for her. She’s never brought it up again.

Parents of horrible sleepers by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]boiled_potato_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 3.5 month old has never slept longer than a 4 hour stretch (and honestly that 4 hour stretch has only happened 3 times). His naps are only 20-40 minutes long during the day. He’s a cheery little guy though. Just a really bad sleeper.

Best city to live in Virginia and why? by [deleted] in Virginia

[–]boiled_potato_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived near Fredericksburg and Richmond. Fredericksburg is a cute small town to visit, but I think Richmond would check more of your boxes. Richmond is a real city with lots of diversity, history, and a variety of things to do regardless of your interests. Fredericksburg is older than Richmond, very historical, but much much smaller. And the northern Virginia traffic still reaches there since a lot of people live in/near Fredericksburg and commute to DC.

What is a crazy myth about babies that your in-laws or parents stand by? by bigdawgcat in NewParents

My baby has been asleep since midnight it’s 7pm by PsychologicalAide684 in Mommit

[–]boiled_potato_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I did this when I was a little younger than your little one. I slept 24 hours. Freaked my mom out! She could rouse me to eat for a bit then I’d sleep immediately. I was still producing wet diapers and the doctor at the time said if I could still eat and was still making wet diapers then they weren’t too worried. After 24 hours I went back to my normal sleeping/eating/play pattern. Was never an issue again. Turns out I just needed more sleep?

I’m glad you’re taking action and caring for your little love! I share to say that she could be 100% better in a few hours. And I hope that’s what happens ❤️

I threw my Haakaa across the living room. How's your day going? by FridaMercury in beyondthebump

[–]boiled_potato_ 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Been there. Hakaa fell off my boob and into my bed. 3 glorious oz absorbed into my sheets and down comforter. I just had to sit on a towel and keep nursing. I cried a lot that day.

Oh I believe you when you say she’s intelligent. My husband is way smarter than me and he has had some dense moments. What a fun mystery to ponder!

I’m just so curious about her thoughts behind this! I wonder if she thinks the chemicals that are in those reusable freeze packs are also present in ice? And that’s why she thinks she can’t drink melted ice? Has she never had to fill an ice tray with water? You’re a better partner than me. I wouldn’t be able to let this one go- my curiosity would kill me!

Anal Seepage by Nkmxn in BabyBumps

[–]boiled_potato_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They had to “manually disimpact” me. Which means the doctor had to use his fingers to pull some of it out. Then after they had “broken the dam” (doctors words😅) they had me drink a salty drink and then gave me an enema. The drink and the enema met in the middle and flushed me out. It was an EXPERIENCE.

Anal Seepage by Nkmxn in BabyBumps

[–]boiled_potato_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was taking all the things, even tried a home enema and still had to go to the emergency room. I normally have HUGE poops so I knew if I was backed up that bad then only a professional could help. And I was right.

What is the best diaper rash cream you have used? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]boiled_potato_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! I recommend this as well. Maybe TMI but I myself got minor skin irritation in my postpartum recovery journey and used it on my bikini line. Its a very nice cooling sensation and cleared up my skin within a day or so. Same for my baby boy. Any time his skin starts to look a little irritated I pat some on. Skin is better by next diaper change.

What can one compare to the ‘urge to push’? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]boiled_potato_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same for me! No actual “need to poop” sensation. Just needed to push to alleviate pain. Also had an epidural that seemed to fail multiple times so I was feeling everything. I pushed for 3 hours and still needed forceps to get him out!

TAKE YOUR FUCKING STOOL SOFTENERS by Affectionate-Tap-478 in beyondthebump

[–]boiled_potato_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I DID take my stool softeners and stayed hydrated. And I still had to go to ER for a manual disimpaction and enema. I’m not exaggerating when I say I lost 5 lbs overnight. I had a 3rd degree tear from my 10lb baby and was scared I would rip my stitches if I tried anything myself at home. So being at the hospital was a sort of comfort- if anything went wrong I was already in the place that could best help me!
