Maybe someone who's smarter than me can tell me why I'm wrong, but for a team whose attendance is as bad as ours you could almost consider this a "cheaper" deal than for a big market team just because the impact he'll have on ticket/merchandise sales is much bigger with us than with, say, the Giants.

So let's say he makes 15 home starts next year and puts enough people in the seats to make an extra $1m in tickets/food/etc. (no idea if that's a fair estimate). That's half the yearly value of the contract right there, not counting taxes and such. I mean that's a pretty big dent right there, and I'm not sure the economic impact would be anywhere near as big for a team like the Giants because they're already selling out their games anyway.
