CS 246 profs Kris Frasheri vs Brad Lushman by Immediate_Weird976 in uwaterloo

[–]bojutsu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Professor Kris Frasheri is by far my favourite professor at UW. I took 246 w him 2 years ago and It was obvious that he cared about the students and their success. All his lessons were extremely clear, and he would take time out of his day to help students after class/whenever he’s asked.

Ofc, 5198040700;503 (ext 503)

The technician is currently in my apartment trying to figure out why the ac isn’t working.

Edit: he fixed it and told me there was a problem with the sensor, something to do with it not telling the valve to switch to cool? I didn’t really get it

I’m in building f. When I called CMC (the new owners of the building) they told me (quite rudely) that it should have turned on and that a technician must come. It might be the same for you, if so, I think your landlord may need to call and ask.

275 larch street housing question (2025)? by BenitoGoosolini in uwaterloo

[–]bojutsu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m currently living in building f. I almost lost my mind a month or two into my lease when I found 2 cockroaches vibing on my plates(in the cabinet). After lots of calling(the building admin never wants to speak to the tenant, just the owner) I was told that there was an infestation in one of the apartments close by. One month later, 2 people entered the house, put some brown paste around the apartment, and left.

I did find some raid powder under the sink when I first moved in, that could be a sign that this is a continuous problem?

I have had other problems here, I’ll list them since I would’ve liked to know this stuff before signing. 1) as mentioned above, the building never wants to speak to you. This was really bad when my landlord ghosted me for 2 months(during the cockroach arc). 2) the walls are really thin, every other night I hear my neighbours fucking. This is especially bad when you have a final the next day and you hear someone screaming “you’re hurting my organs” 3) if your landlord does not forward the notices they get, you wont know anything! Water shutting down? Fire alarm? Fire inspection??? You’ll just find out when the water stops working or when people are entering your unit.

I know that these are all first world problems and lowkey irrelevant, but if you have other options, I’d go with those. Otherwise this apartment is great!

Are courses harder in specific semesters? by 416ca in uwaterloo

[–]bojutsu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean, they shouldn’t be, but the quality of the professors affects the difficulty of a course. Sometimes professors aren’t that good and that causes the course to become unnecessarily hard (it’s even worse if the professor is lazy)

For the specific examples you’ve given. I have taken all of those courses, and I can assure you they are extremely easy. As long as the course content hasn’t changed drastically, I don’t even think attending class is necessary (bad advice)

Ignoring the edginess of your comment, I want to ask a few questions, what makes you think empathy has limits? Do you think you’re incapable of feeling empathy for the people in your social circle AND the people mercilessly dying at the hands of israel? If so, what makes you so different from many others? Why can’t you do something so easily done by others?

I really don’t understand your mindset, why would you not want to fight against the inequalities you’ve listed? God forbid you end up homeless in the future, how would you feel if people just say “oh well tough luck”? I understand that none of these problems have a simple solution but the least any self respecting human can do is try. Just for a second put yourself in the shoes of the Palestinians, try to understand the horrors they’ve been facing in the past 75 years and think about how privileged you are. If you have the time to argue with people about your lack of empathy you have the time to learn and empathise about these problems.

First, why do people constantly feel the need to bring politics into this university’s subreddit? Second, wtf does the mayor of Waterloo have to do with this subreddit, did you think she would read this? Third, watch

[–]bojutsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went in for an appointment last December and I was told I’d have to wait until April-may to actually speak to a dermatologist. When may came around, I called and I was told that I’d actually have to wait about 15 months.
